I don't think that would make any difference to how well the books sell. They'll sell just fine on their own.
Rowling as a parent is probably as sympathetic to the McCann plight as any other parent. Rowling is just in a better position to be of assistance.
I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, anyway.

As she is already mega rich I doubt that she needs the money or the publicity, I have been waiting (not very patiently) for the new book to come out ever since I dashed into the store bought The Half blood Prince and devoured it enthusiastically, And yes I have read all the classics (Moby Dick, Catcher in the Rye, To kill a Mocking bird, Frankenstien etc etc etc )

I don't think so. JKR is a mom and probably has/had a lot of empathy for the McCann's. I know that poor Maddie's plight is breaking my heart. I think JKR was just trying to raise awareness and provide some means for the McCann's to get Maddie back safely.
Unfortunately, I am afraid that may never happen. :(

I doubt JK Rowling needs any extra assistance in selling her books.

absolutely not!! This book needs no advertising or publicity. it would sell if people were only told what date it came out. It is quite a negative point of view to think that! She is a mother and maybe it has touched her so she wanted to help.

Like she needs to raise her profile!
No, don't be ridiculous. Why would you imagine her motives were other than sympathy for the McCanns and a desire to do what was within her power to help.

I doubt it very much, she doesn't need any help to sell her books.Like a large proportion of famous people she probably donates a lot to charity and thought this a worthwhile one.

I really don't think so. Harry Potter must be a dream come true for the publisher.

Really, does she need to sell more books? Are you jealous because you don't have her money and have no possible way to ever have it? Unless you are willing to help them, then you have nothing to say do you?
And no, I'm not a fan.
