We (2 adults, 4 kids) travelled from CA to NY by car (6 days) and played games all the way. Our favorite was initials. One person would give the initials of someone famous and the others would have to guess who it is, asking only Yes or No questions, such as: living? man? entertainer? sports? young? TV? etc. Whoever guess correctly, gave the next set of initials.

Another good game is 20 questions. Someone thinks of a thing -- animal, mineral, anything -- and 20 questions are allowed until someone figures out what it is. Usually, we restricted it to something in our vision.

Then there are license plate games: make a phrase out of the letters of a license plate. Example: RTY456 could become "read the year" or "right to you".

There are also all kinds of puzzle & game books available. Hope this helps!

Play music, upbeat fun music. We just came home from a 10 day trip and played the fifties and 60's for a lot of the trip.

Lap boards and coloring supplies are good if they are of the right age.

Snacks, don't forget a rest stop at least every two hours.

Good Luck.
