My other half got caught doing 36mph in a 30 limit, or so we think, we just dont know who was driving.
Are there any web sites or advice on how to go about this. Neither of us remember being at the location in question at that time.

I am in the uk and 36mph is marginal, if it still works on the principle of, the speed limit+3mph+ 10%. It works out to about 36.3mph.

It must have been a mobile camera, as there are no fixed ones on this road

regardless of who was driving if it is you car then you will be responsible unless you go to court with proof that it was not you. The police should issue you with photographic evidence that your car was there - unless it was a car illegally using you number plate! - unlikely but possible. Request photographic evidence and make sure it is your vehicle.
There was a case of a stolen car with fake plate caught on camera doing 80 mph in a 60 zone - the registration was really a tractor - and the farmer actually went to court to explain why he really couldn't have been going that fast!

Thjere may be apossibility of getting a further photo from the Police showing the driver. I'm not sure if the there is a fee for this.
Don't be tempted to go down the 'whoever has the least points takes the hit' route. That is also a criminal offence.
Just take the hit. Harsh but necessary.

The calculation of +3mph + 10% is an urban myth. However, further to other answers you should be able to obtain a photograph of the front of the car and subsequently who was driving. Don`t even think about using all the "old tricks" of getting out of it - they are all utter rubbish.

Go for whoever has the least points or if you are both the same and one is a girl she is best to take them, or both deny any knowledge and they have to prove who it is, my partner got away with this as they said it could have been a number of people and who it was was unidentifyable by the pic, however this only works if the registered keeper can prove they were elsewhere or they will get the stick.
Not advocating breaking the law, just a suggestion!!

ok i would like to give you some advice on this so ok you have been back to the site where you think you have been caught speeding was there any signs there because if there isnt no signs they cant do you and the other thing is that if it was a mobile speeding camrea there is useully a police patrol car further down the road awaiting for you to pull you over and any way if you have been caught the tickets usually come through in two weeks if it was a camrea when they take a photo they have the driver on them

Are you loaning out the keys? You should be able to find out the time and place by calling the number on the ticket and or calling your local police.

They have one of you, however it may be a good idea to just pay the fine and or do some driving school seen by your state. It just might be a good idea anyhow to do the school to get cheaper insurance.

Good Luck.

If all the police have is a photo and the car was not stopped and inspected, then this may prove a viable defense. The onus is not on you to prove you were not speeding.. the onus is on the police to prove you were.
http://photoweasel.diaryland.com/SpeedCamera.html - they may well ask you whether you are innocent but that's not how the law works.. they have to allege AND prove your guilt.

Excuse Me . Perhaps you got caught speeding via camera ?
If not you or your other half ? Has or did someone borrow your car on the day in question ?

Call the police and see if they have any evidence of the speeding. I will assume that you were caught with a camera, and were not stopped at the time of the infraction.
I would fight this one in court.

good luck.

I'm assuming you refer to your significant other. Anyway, there's really not a lot you can do unless you can prove you weren't there. Even if you can do that they may still hold you accountable if the incident was in your car.
