they are just watching because they are dogs, they look after their owners...when you're watching tv your dog has nothing to do because you're the boss so its waiting for you to do something with him. play, take a walk, pet him, ect.
i did catch my dod watching tv once and i was very suprised because its said that dogs cant see colors or anything 2D, but i guess something catches their eye because he was definatelly watching tv...maybe its the sound or the movements that he notices...

I think they see you in Black and White. Acutally you have a most loyal friend waiting anxiously for the moment you do something so he/she can be a part of it or ready do what every you ask.

Shepard's are really attuned to their owners, they like being part of your pack and they are usually very attached to one person more than others.

sounds like your dog loves you.. next time your sitting watching tv and catch him watching you give him some loves, a nice belly rub, or scratch behind his ears.. then find a toy and play fetch with him!

aww, its just trying to prtect you if anything bad happens. My pup used to do that if i just sit there and stare back at her. if you didnt know any better, it'd look as if we were having a staring contest!

Welcome to the wonderful world of herding dogs. To really experience the "stare" spend some time with a border collie.
