A few days ago, the fan for my heater (no a/c on this vehicle) appeared to go out. No matter what combination of settings I used, the fan would not come on. I haven't done anything to the vehicle; I was planning on taking it to the shop. Today, I was out and it was raining, so I reached over without thinking to turn the fan on to clear the windshield - and it was suddenly working again! Previously, everything else had been working - lights, horn, map lights, wipers, etc. And since the fan is working now, on all speeds, clearly it wasn't a fuse or (I presume) the fan couldn't work NOW. I'm not complaining, of course, but I would certainly like to have an idea of what might have caused it to quit, and why it might have started again. Any ideas?????

Wow! Currently my fathers 98 ram is having the same problem. Down here, it is very irritating to jump in your truck and the a/c wont kick on! We got out and started going over fuses and the compressor and such, when that did no good we wiggled some stuff around and then hit the power distribution center on the lid, and the fan kicked on. We are assuming it is a short in there or a bad relay and we are going to go though it later. Try that and see if it comes on next time it wont come on. Good luck!

On most cars from the 90's up the factroy will put in fuses that reset themselfs, this could be it, it could be that the switch it's self is going.

I can tell you if you take the car to th shop without it working they might not be able to fix it and more likly not find a problem, the best thing is to do is just hold out for it to not work all together, however it will have to come to a head before winter or even fall.

Good luck.

It sounds like a bad ground condition. With the humidity from the rain, it helped make the connection and the fan will run.
