Do you raise your hand in class?
Oh well then, you must be a hypocrite.
*sigh*

The US salute used to be a hand over the heart. That was changed because of the Nazi salut.
Many eastern cultures and Native Americans still use the swastika as a symbol for piece and good (though most of them have learned to avoid the "reverse swastika").
The German iron star and lightning bolt "S" were both considered important before the Nazis. Both are coming back into use.
We cannot let bad experiences rule our life.

Are you talking about when people hold their hand up during worship? Some people feel so moved that they put their hand up in a symbolic gesture that they are putting their hand closer to God or are closer to "recieving" the Spirit. They are also sort of indicating that they are enthralled by the One on high and are reaching up towards Him. It has nothing to do with Hitler which is just an ignorant statement.
It might be compared to the same thing that people do at concerts when they get really excited. They put both hands up in the air and go "wooooo".

Raising "holy hands" is a continuation of the Jewish custom of holding your hands up in supplication to God. It shows that you are approaching him to ask for forgiveness or to have a prayer answered.
It's not a Nazi salute anyway, its a Roman salute given by soldiers to Caesar then later given to the Holy Roman Emperor and then later to the little crazy man who thought he was an emperor.

I totally know what you're talking about. I'm Catholic, and a couple of weeks ago I decided to go to this huge Catholic church that everyone in my town goes to instead of the little, more traditional one that I usually go to. What struck me at first about this other "Catholic" (and I use the term lightly) church was that it was very contemporary and Protestantized, if that's even a word. Then after we recited the Apostle's Creed, everyone raised their right hand outward, not directly upward, in the exact same fashion that the Nazis did during a rally.
At first I was stunned, but then I laughed to myself as I watched 250 people doing the Heil Hitler while reciting in unison. I asked my friend after mass about it and he said that it's just how they bless the rest of the congregation. That the extended palm is supposed to symbolize you praying and blessing everyone else.

I am Christian, but I have to agree with you. I've always doubted the sincerity of those who get into the hand raising while yelling "Praise Jesus!"
To me, my worship of my God is a rather private, personal thing. From my point of view, and from my frame of reference, the hand-raisers are simply screaming to others, "Look what a great Christian I am!"
No wonder so many people think we Christians are freaky.

I've never noticed what you're talking about. Sunday when I'm in church I'll be sure to look around to see how everybody else is worshiping. Seriously, I've never seen anything like that. What religion were you watching???

Rob is right...we praise Jesus and are reaching toward Him when we raise our hands. Some folks will say anything to get the Christians "riled up". I am not upset because I know whom I believe and trust....my living God and Saviour!!
Blessings to all!!

I saw a baseball player raise his arm in a game the other day! He caught a ball and everyone cheered... now I wonder.. were they cheering the catching of the ball or the Nazi salute???

I don't think you have the right to single out Christians. and actualy you don't have the right because you don't know every single Christian out there considering there are many different types of Christians. ok?
