I once caught a six-pack of beer. Someone had tied the beer to a boat, and the line broke. The beer cans had barnacles but a friend decided to crack one open anyway and chugged it down.

Four of us took a fishing trip from Ohio to Florida. It was February. We stopped at St. Johns River and fished two days in 38 degree weather.(near Ocala Florida). We then drove down the east coast until we got to Jupiter and stayed at a Holiday Inn on the Ocean. One of the guys had never deep sea fished before so we chartered a boat out of Stuart and went chasing Cobia. It was slow fishing but the guy who never fished the ocean caught a 55 pound Cobia. From there we went to Lake Okeechobee to fish with a frient who has a guide business. It so happened that we were there for valentines day and the guide's wife wouldn't let him guide us that weekend unless we bought drinks at the tiki bar at Roland Martin's Marina. We ended up closing the bar and our 6 am fishing trip started at 10 am. We were all too hung over to get going any earlier/ (including the guide!) We fished hard for three days and caught many mant largemouth . None too big that trip probably 7 lb was the biggest.

Last year, on the Michigamme Reservoir (in the UP), I hooked a 5 lb. largemouth bass. I was pretty pumped, threw it in the basket, and continued fishing. I caught a few fish here and there, but nothing too big. I motored back to shore and walked into the fish house to clean my catch. I left the bass for last. When I gut it open, it had eaten half a lure, a crawfish, two weights (not lead, thank goodness), and a shoestring. It tasted really good, despite the lure and shoestring!

Last week we went down to lake michigan (we live in wi) to try our luck at catching some perch for the fry pan. The perch fishing sucked but we could see tons of large carp boiling the surface. Always down for a fight with these garbage sucking tanks of the water, i ran to the gas station for a can of sweetcorn. After about an hour of super light bites i hooked into a monster! I was using a spinning setup. A shimano reel with 30lb power pro (best line ever!) and a 6 foot g-loomis medium action rod. This carp had me close to an empty spool and i had to bulldog him to get my line back before he took all of my line. After about a half hour the fish tired and someone nearby lent us thier net. Unfortunatly my friend bent thier net a bit from the weight of the fish but we got it up on the pier. This carp weighed 40lbs and was 38" long. Since then weve caught other smaller carp and some nice perch but ill never forget how that big carp fought me. It was definatly a blast and i hope i catch an even bigger one soon.

A group of us went fishing a few years ago in a small pond in Texas. Everyone was getting hooked but when we tried to reel it in the line would break. We thought we were just hitting branches and our line was old. I got extremely angry and went to the other side where no on else was. I again got stuck. Trying not to lose the lure I manually started to pull the line in. When i got it closer I saw what looked to be a wal-mart trash bag in a v shape. I kept pulling and the line started moving and I pulled in a five pound bass. It had my aunt's lure in its mouth. She claims that she caught the fish but Technically I did. I am the best fisher women out there.

I use to live in Sitka, Alaska for about 7 years I use to go fishing most every weekend, I caught allot of large salmon, I use to go crabbling all the time, that was great, I would go fishing for Halibut,(a large flat fish, similar to say a string ray.) I was used to catching 30 to 50 pounders all the time, Once I tried a different spot, I caught a very large fish, I could feel it on line. It took me about 45 min. to bring it in, I had to slowly tow it into shore, and then when I got to shore, I jumped out of my boat, and had to use a gafff hook, (a baseball bat with a large bar on it, like a hook) when I got to shore, I slowly reeled it in, when it got close enough, I went out and gaffed it and drug it to land, when I got it to land I took the gaf hook and clubbed it in the head to kill it.
I didn't weight it, but all said and done, I would say it definitely weighted 150ib.s,
I wouldn't trade that experience for anything in the world! It was great!

I was about five and went out fishing with my grandpa on lake Michigan. We spent hours out on the boat with no luck, not a single bite. We came back to shore and I was playing in the shallow water while he packed everything up to trek it back home when I came running up to him with a decent sized fish in my hands. I was playing with the sand under the water when a fish swam up and I caught it with my hands. My grandpa was a bit mad at the fact he was using his lucky fishing pole and bait and had caught nothing and I caught one with my hands but he couldn't stop laughing.
