an example of the ignorance we face:
"who ever believe that humans were monkeys are the most intellectually messed up people EVER.
think of how messed this sounds * people use to be monkeys* yea sure.. and my dog use to be a cat but it evolved. it dosent make any sence what so ever. how come the moneys now dont change? if evolution was real wouldnt the monkeys in the zoo be humans too? think"
to the person who wrote this...
what is evolution? what is metamorphosis? please, i beg of you... before you spawn equally ignorant children, please educate yourself... even if you don't want to believe it, at least know what it is you aren't believing.

I'm a creationist who values education very highly.

The person who wrote that obviously hasn't studied science. However, studying the PHYSICAL is not needed to understand the SPIRITUAL.

Science is fascinating in its own right, but does NOT contain spiritual answers. That would be like trusting a biochemist to perform brain surgery, or a neurosurgeon to be able to give a full psychoanalysis of someone. Unless a person is trained in the spritual, they can't understand it. No matter how intelligent they are.

And yes, I do know what evolution is. I'm also studying string theory, chaos theory, and steady-state theory.

I just don't understand. Where did the idea that humans came from monkeys originate anyway? I mean, evolution has been explained thoroughly in our school systems since I was a kid, and nowhere does this idea come up. Even back then, the people who didn't get it had this idea as their main point of confusion. Why can't people understand that that's not what evolution means?

I feel that education should be private. We have the government educating us now. How could that be anything but a disaster?

Anyway, I know that particular creationist painfully misrepresented the theory of evolution...but more than likely, he went to the same kind of school you did. I am not an evolutionist--but I understand the concept of a straw man. I'm sorry any of us have to deal with them.

I blame the sad state of public education for that. I went to Christian schools and know those statements are an ignorant misrepresentation of evolution ;)

Though for what it's worth, I agree, creationists should know MORE about evolution than the average unbeliever on the street if they are going to engage in creationist apologetics.

"Typically, before biology students plod through the eight major insect orders, their textbook first offers some marvelous features of these winged creepers. These include the compound eye in many adults, scent hormones that mark territories and routes, complex social behaviors, antennae that smell or touch, and, of course, the remarkable workings of insect metamorphosis.

The amazing transformation of a caterpillar, via a pupa, into a majestic butterfly is one of the most dramatic processes in the living world. This and similar processes in other insects are called metamorphosis, from the Greek meaning ‘change of form’. The internal organs of the caterpillar dissolve into a seemingly amorphous blob, before reforming as the markedly different innards of a radically different creature—all while the metabolism of life continues in some way!

The instructions for every stage of this entire marvelous process all have to be encoded in the ‘program’ contained within the egg of the butterfly. No evolutionist has even come close to describing how such a stunning example of intelligence programmed into matter could have come about by step-by-step evolution, all the while maintaining the organism’s viability. "

It is evolutionists who teach apes to man, whales to cows, lizards to birds. The burden of proof is on them to give irrefutable evidence that this happened, they have failed to do this.

Are you done ranting now?

First of all, thats not what evolutionists believe. Second of all, I am a creationist. Third of all, evolutionists hate it when people accuse them of believing something that they don't. I'm sure you feel the same way. Fourth of all, the way I feel about education is that we should teach both sides of the debate. Evolution is a theory, not a fact, not truth. Given today's evidence, Darwin would probably not support his theory any more. But, there are some who do if only to have a reason not to be a christian.

It's no better or worse than evolutionists who use the adaption/natural selection/speciation arguments against creationists when creationists do not necessarily believe in the fixity of species.

But the "evolved from monkeys" argument is one even Answersingenesis.org agrees should not be used.

this is not at all what evolution claims! there are plenty of creationists who would say you are dead wrong.
