How long can you have a permit for?
Cause I want to drive, but right when I get my driver liscens, my parent's insurance goes crazyly up!!!!!!!
Is there a limit to how long you can keep it, (In Illinois) (or where ever in the U.S.)
I want to drive!!!!!!!!!

A permit in Illinois is valid for two years.

The permit does expire, depending on what state you are in. You will need to check your permit or with the bureau that issues it as to how long it is valid for. The best thing to do is to learn to drive and get your license. Your parent's insurance rates will rise, but they will not fall until you are at least 21, so waiting won't help there. The only way to save them money is to get it yourself or just don't drive.

I held my learners for two years, but you have to go get it renewed after 12 months. Im not sure how it works where you are, I live in Washington DC. You should call you local DMV and they can give you the correct answer for your state.
