Interested in knowing what it feels like right as they are putting you out. Is it a scary blacking out feeling, or fading away feeling?

I remember counting 10, 9, 8 ....... and then waking up a little disoriented and freaked out for a few minutes.

I personally never liked the feeling of being 'put under'. And unfortunately, I'm allergic to something in the general anesthesia and got a seizure from it. It was many years ago so I'm not really sure what gave me such a reaction whether it was the adrenaline and/or nitrous oxide.

It depends how they do it and that itself depends on the operation.

For light anesthesia you don't get a pre-med, you fade out on the operating table.

For heavier anesthesia (eg bowel operation) you get a pre-med which is like a sleeping tablet and you get all dopey and carefree.

Like most things, it's not as bad as the fear of it.

I remember getting a shot for being put under. Than they also gave me laughing gas. Personally I remember getting the shot, than the mask. Well a few minutes after the mask was put on, I noticed I was light headed, and the room looked different. Than after that boom, the next thing I remember was waking up. After that I was dizzy and wobbly from the after affects

I've had surgery about fifteen times, I don't remember counting or fading anything as dramatic as this.
I was talking to the nurses on second, the next I was waking. That's all there is to it.

ive had surgery a few times and each is different from the next.
sometimes you go straight to sleep like blacking out or you might slowly fade out or you might just be numb all over and still semi-concious. it depends on what youre getting done.

i have been put under it twice... it is fine, you think it is scary but it isnt.
all that you feel are your eyelids getting heavy and when you are asleep, it goes really quickly and you dont dream, well i didnt
