They make cushions to put in chairs that have a section cut out in the back so your tailbone wont be so tender while sitting. I have seen them at Walgreens and you can buy them on-line. Here is what they look like:

Other than that I think it will just take time for it to heal.

As you probably know by now, these injuries are very painful and there doesn't seem to be any position that is comfortable. Besides taking pain medication, the other things you can do are applying an ice bag for 10-15 minutes several times per day - this sometimes makes a huge difference; using a doughnut-shaped cushion when sitting, avoid sitting for long periods of time, hang out in pool where the water is as deep as your shoulders, and try to gently stretch your hamstrings and muscles in your butt cheeks, lower back, and hips as much as you can without causing more pain. Do this by lying on your back and bringing your your knees up toward the center of your chest. Use both hands to add a little stretch to the muscles by putting your hands under the knee joint and slightly pulling your leg up and across your chest. Hold your leg in the stretching position for about 10-15 seconds and repeat this a few times with each leg. You can try pulling in slightly different planes of motion to see where the stretching works best. Don't do this exercise if it hurts.

Because these things hurt so much, sometimes, doctors give patients a pain blocking shot that lasts for a couple of days. You should consider visiting the doc if the pain is too much.

Make sure you are getting plenty of fiber and fluids - straining while going to the bathroom can really aggravate the pain, so you do not want to get constipated.
