Most handloading manuals have separate listings treating the 45-70 as three different cartridges, one for weak actions like the trapdoor Springfield, one for strong, modern lever actions, and one for the super-strong actions like the Ruger #1. I'd suggest you invest in the Lyman manual.

Peruse the latest Herters Reloading guide. Approach max loads with caution. Remember that with a 45-70 it doesn't have to be traveling at the speed of light; it can drop anything like the hammor of Thor at 800 or 900 fps.

the biggest grain bullet you can find - doesnt realy matter what brand, thats all about accuracy
