The best way is to repeat why they were looking for a person in the first place. Look at the ad for the job and pick up the key reasons they want a person and the qualities they are looking to find. If the ad says "a strong leader" talk about your leadership skills and how you would bring them to help achieve the goals of their company.
Employers are looking for solutions, present yourself as the best solution for them.

first of all it is not a fair question and as a person who has hired and have to admit fired a few folks i would never dream of asking that questions. but if i would have some one ask me that question i would simple state "i am not in position to answer that question since i do not know the qualifications of the candidates."

whatever the employer asks you, focus on the various scenarios of your success stories tying them up with positive results in the end, because employers are results-oriented...
you can also respond to it by saying "because you promise to do your best, work hard, be a team player, for the best of the company's interest. "
