The whole end of the world thing. I mean, to me, I do get skeptical but it's also intimidating. I mean the Mayan Calendar is not the only ancient artifact that points to December 2012 as "the end". The I'Ching, "Bible Codes", and Web Bot project...

What do you think? Will we go through some spiritual fiasco? Will morning never come? Some say Armaggeddon isn't actually what it seems to be, it's not this horrific catastrophe rather than a gradual process that more people are becoming aware of, like a personal self-conflict.

Man, all I know is that if that's it, my plans on becoming an international superstar was never to be. LOL.

Yea, I know what Jesus said. But he also said that he hoped man would look for the SIGNS so that we won't have to suffer as great. It's in the Bible somewhere I forget where but I read it.

it is a sin to even speculate when it will happen

In the spirit world “ending” and “death” and “transition” all mean the same thing.

In Egypt the Sun died each day, and was reborn the next day and so the mystical arts or runes and astrology and such come from these ancient arts where it was common knowledge that an ending meant that something new would be reborn from that ending.

In the Native American culture it is represented by the Phoenix Bird rising from the ashes ……. So the energy that is released from anything ending is transformed and has new life or new wings like the phoenix.

A celestial formation, which only happens once every 25,630 years, will happen on the December 21, 2012 at the winter solstice. At around 6:01 am, Eastern Standard Time, the Sun, Earth, and center of the Milky Way galaxy will be in conjunction or alignment. Since the horizontal plane of the Milky Way galaxy will be only 27 degrees shy of being perpendicular to the plane of the ecliptic, which is the plane made by the earth’s revolution around the Sun, a cross will form between these two planes. The intersection of these two planes has been named the Holy Cross by researchers.

The Maya perceived the Milky Way galaxy as the Great Mother or Cosmic Womb of creation from which all life, form, and matter proceeded. There is a dark cleft in the Milky Way, which was for the Maya, the literal Womb of the Great Mother. At the solstice in 2012, one can envision the birth of the new Sun from the dark Womb of creation.

No, the World will not end. Instead, a more spiritual, openness age will begin.

And a lot of us NOW are already experiencing that "spiritual awakening," and do not have to wait for 2012.

As you stated above: Armageddon isn't actually what it seems to be, it's not this horrific catastrophe rather than a gradual process that more people are becoming aware of, like a personal self-conflict.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Right on.

I think it's all a bunch of hype. In advertisement they call it a false sense of urgency. It makes people think they've gotta repent quickly because time is running out.

I don't even understand WHY there is so much importance on the mayans and what their calendar says (or doesn't say.) I wasn't aware that the mayans were some all-knowing race of people who had somehow acquired the knowledge necessary to predict the world would end in 2012. Don't you think, though, that if they knew the world would end in 2012 there would be some other kind of indicator rather than their calendar just ending at 2012? I mean, the end of the world is a serious thing.... don't you think that they'd have some kind of warning or some drawings in a journal or something more significant than just ending the calendar?

I mean, if i double click the clock in my task bar here and scroll forward the "microsoft windows XP" calendar the last year that shows is 2099..... does that mean the world is going to end not in 2012 but in 2099?? No, it just means that they didn't make the calendar to go further than that. The first year is also 1980..... does that mean that there was nothing prior to 1980? No of course it doesn't.

I highly doubt that the 2012 "prediction" holds any significance other than to scare people into religion. Remember, the world was supposed to end in the year 2000 as well.... and when that prediction failed they changed it to 2001..... and now that the 2001 prediction failed they are shooting for 2012. Why 2012? Well, it's as good a date as any.... and being that the end of the mayan calendar falls on the year 2012 they have SOME kind of justification for choosing that year. It's not like they threw a dart at a board covered in numbers or pulled a number out of a hat. It's a "legitimate" number as far as these "end of the world" theorists are concerned.

It's all a bunch of crap, if you ask me. Don't live your life in fear of the end. The end of your life may come sooner than that..... you may not even live until 2012.... why be afraid of something that isn't even going to happen? Live your life and don't listen to these morons who preach of the end of the world.

In 2012 the sun will be ending a regular 11 year cycle. However, it will also be the end of a 26,000 cycle called the procession of the equinoxes. The culmination of these two events, among other celestial cycles that are to complete in 2012, is why the planets are heating up, why the weather is getting freaky, and why everyone is acting strange. Keep in mind that out bodies are controlled by electrical impulses that can be affected by outside stimuli. If the sun gets crazy, so do we.
Scientists are predicting a very active sunspot cycle. One that will put the one in 2001 to shame. In that one, communication satellites were damaged and there were problems with power grids around the world. They are suspecting that the gamma rays will be significant enough to potentially destroy some satellites and some ground equipment. Worse, they are certain of a big CME (Coronal Mass Ejection). Their only hope is that we are not facing that side of the sun when it happens.

You must understand that the bible tells Christians NOT to worry about the end of the world and predict it...but we don't seem to listen lol!

Yes, there is the Mayan Calander

there is also a prophecy by St. Malachy, where he fell in St. Peter's Bascilica and has succesfully prophecized every Pope since then.

The bible also talks abotu the 10 signs of the apocolypse. Many earth quakes and wars, restoration Jerusalem, Jews returning home, explosion of knowledge...I can't remember the others.

Also, in the bible it says before the end of the world there will be blood on the moon....NASA plans on having a moon colony before 2020...will be done about 2011? 2012? Maybe...maybe someone building it will get caught in a machine and die that way...

For a moment I thought you meant the London Olympics...
Nothing much short of the end of the world will stop that being precisely a fiasco. Logo, budget and planning are already showing clear signs...

But I've been through a few "end of the worlds" already at my age, and I'm not going to get excited about another prediction that doesn't involve a detected but unstoppable meteor.
And thinking about it, there wouldn't be a lot of point in getting excited about that.

I kinda like 2012. During Jesus' teaching, he brings up hell allot. I think this 2012 thing intimidates me in a good way. I know that if the deeds I do aren't for love, they are useless, but the idea of 2012 just changes my time to do them and has helped myself intimidate me at times and understand that the world could end at any time. I have to improve on my fear again, but the world won't end then.
Okay, it could end 2012, and the info is pretty cool (I have a friend who believes in it and knows all about it),but didn't Jesus say that not even He knew when it would happen?

I have wondered about this too. It seems, as far as "end of the world" things go to be the most corroborated. I have heard both ends, whether a destruction, or just a paradigm shift to a new enlightenment. I don't know what to think, but it is the first date that I am really curious to see its outcome. Nice to see there are others thinking of it!

I have met Quetzalcoatl, he is an Amazon Parrot Living at 312 E. State St. The world is an egg with no shell, never lose the rebel yell. When he is through using humans to learn the current babble of monkeys who cannot fly very well he will get back to us on this 2012 thing. Just pray the end of the world is the beginning and all is well. And quinoa in a multigrain bread toasted makes a lovely offering to any of his clergy who live with humans to teach them humility and altruism.

The bottom line for me is just follow God as close as possible then even if the world lasts forever (even though we know it won't) we could still die of a heart attack or some vicious fish could stab us or any number of things and we will be ready. We were born to die, Nothing but death is certain. So as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. Take care and may God bless you spiritually.
