i got a new camera but it has an ugly stiker thing on the front of it, i made the mistake of removing it slightly, so now the corners all sticking up and if i try to remove all of it i will have a sitcky dirty patch on the camera, do you know what type of person would remove it, or what type of solution would remove it without ruining the camera?

My favorite solvent for removing sticker residue is straight naptha(isoheptane), commonly available as Ronsonol lighter fluid.

Most nail polish removers contain acetone, which will work but does nasty things to most plastics.

Acetone-free nail polish removers generally contain ethyl acetate, which is generally safer around plastics but can still do damage in excess.

So, with that in mind, I would avoid nail polish removers unless they explicitely state that they are acetone-free.

WD-40 contains a fairly pure low molecular weight mineral oil(C9-C14), plus some other stuff that I'm not totally sure what it is. I personally would avoid WD-40 for this purpose.

Goo gone will certainly take care of the sticky residue, hower I don't often use it because it leaves behind an oily coating that requires further clean up will another solvent.

While as I said I like naptha the best for this, another solvent I can highly reccomend for this purpose is isopropyl alcohol, commonly available as household rubbing alcohol. While it won't work as quickly or efficiently as some of the other solvents mentioned, it will get the job done, and is relatively inert toward most plastics.

i've tried five things work the best.

WD40, nail polish remover, windex, lens cleaner and bug spray. my personal favs are nail polish remover (dont ask why i have it) or bug spray.

because this is on a camera, you don't want to spray anything directly on the camera surface. first take as much off as possible. then put whatever solution you're using onto a piece of cloth and then rub the sticky surface. then take another piece of cloth and soak it in warm soap water and wipe whatever residue is left over. finally, wipe it clean with a clean dry cloth. that should do the trick. the key to making sure you don't ruin anything is to not let the solution stay on the camera surface for too long and cleanly wiping it off.

Try a small amount of WD 40 or 3in1 oil applied with a cotton bud it should disolve the glue then use a screen wipe to remove the oil

Dont use wd40, it can wreck your camera. Use a solution called goo gone. One or two drops will wipe the sticky mess right off! Good Luck!

You can get IPA wipes (iso-propyl alcohol) from a pharmacist. They are used as hand wipes for sterile surgical procedures but they are great for dissolving residue from sticky labels. I've just been assembling a computer desk and every part - and there were dozens - had just such a label.

There is a product you can get in a can. It kind of freezes the sticky stuff and it just wipes away. Im sorry i cant remember what its called but you should be able to get it at a DIY store.
