I have recently been a victim of an unlawful arrest by the police. I will be heading for the hills soon - very soon!

You stupid ignorant person.
Do you honestly think that you would be allowed to post such a crass question if we really did live a Police State?

No organisation is perfect and the police have their share of fools as much as anyone. Yes, they make mistakes but they are always put right (even if not always to everyone's satisfaction). The Gestapo would 'correct' their unlawful arrest by making sure that you weren't left around to complain about it.
We live in probably the freest countries in the world. The fact that you can winge about it in such a fashion and still be loose is evidence of that.

Run away to your hill and enjoy it - just make sure that it's not in the UK and GROW UP.

In spite of serious understaffing, the UK has one of the best police forces in the world. It's very unlikely that you were unlawfully arrested. Instead, you may have been mistakenly arrested. I gather that you are now free enough to choose to go to a computer to complain on yahoo, which suggests that the mistake was noticed and rectified. So you really have nothing to complain about! All is well after all!

no we don't live in a police state

the police don't make the laws they just enforce them .

if you have been unlawfully arrested then get a lawyer and complain.

its not the police that are frightening its the criminals and the fact that there are not enough police to deal with them - the red tape that prevents prosecution and the law courts who don't deal with the criminals when they are taken to court.

most of my years as a police officer in London was spent helping people and saving lives BUT when i did arrest someone they sure as hell deserved it even if the law courts did send them back out with a slapped wrist

No they have not.Not yet anyway, but we must be alert always and some very disturbing elements are creeping in.

The I have nothing to hide brigade should watch out and be aware.

No draconian law has ever been passed without "good reason" in any state ever

Just think yourself lucky you were'nt arrested by the Gestapo. It would have been a good kicking and the last train to Auschwitz.

Are you absolutely sure this was in UK, it's just that I thought the police force in the UK was a thing of the past! We rarely see police personnel, mostly we see community support officers or nobody at all!

You have no idea what you are talking about. Do some research on what the Gestapo was really like, and be less careless throwing words around like that.

Study the history of the Gestapo and you will realise that you are not only grossly exaggerating, but insulting thousands of their victims!
