Hi..LilMissy....I believe that the majority of the land on earth had been connected at one time. However due to changes of the earth and erosion and tsunami's and eruptions and earthquakes and meteors hitting the earth that this is how the land became as it is today. A lot of changes have occurred since the earth had been created and the weather and nature and other issues had caused the earth to form the land as we know now. Scientists have proved this through their discoveries and findings. Hope this has helped. Have a great day!

You're talking about plate tectonics, I believe, and from what I've read, most, if not all, of the earth's land masses were once connected. This explains physical similarities between people in widely-separated areas of earth, because at one time there were land bridges between those areas.
Your friend is trying to use fiction (aka religion) to explain away the facts. BTW, ask your friend why North and South America aren't mentioned in the bible if god created them all at the same time. Could it be because the people who actually wrote the bible were unaware those land masses were there? Hmmmm.

You and your friend would do well to read some of Simon Winchester's works on geology. May I suggest "The Crack At the Edge of the World," and "The Map That Changed the World?"

Plates have been proven to shift, and land is moving. Albeit very slowly, land can move a long wayover time. So it's possible, religious or not, that at least some land that is not connected, was at one time. Oh, and I believe in God.

The land masses were once all together and then erosin made them break apart and they will all keep spreading apart for millions of years.

How old are you? You should be learning this stuff in school. The continents were once connected in a landmass called Pangea. It split up about 250 million years ago.

Yes, most was connected I believe but there were some islands that were always islands.
When it comes to science some religious people, like your friend, are beyond stupid.
