Plane crashes, overall, are rather rare events. They do happen however. You can calculate your odds of being in a crash easily enough, but this is just chance and probability, not reality. You should be safe in a plane, but if you are in the group that happens to board an ill-fated one, chance and probablility will not save your life.

Lets put it this way it is so rare and safe to travel in a plane that you are more likely to get struck by lightning 3 times than getting in one plane crash and that is one you will live through it is far more unlikely that you will die in one.

Yes very rare. The chances of airplane crashes are my guess of 1,697,896 to 1. Car crashes are more likely then airplane crashes.

Well, we haven't had a major crash in the US since 2002. We've had around 250,000 highway deaths since then. You're about 50 times more likely to be killed on the highway on the way to the airport than once you get there. And that INCLUDES the risk from terrorism.

Rare but it does happen. The pilots are usually safe cause I don't think they want to die, but stuff happens. You take a risk when you drive or do anything...so...that's life for you.

Well, yes, of course! The odds of getting being in two aircraft crashes are even slimmer! Thanks for the two points.
