At the base of the brain are the most primitive functions, the unconscious automatic things like regulating breath, the heart, fight or flight, etc. As you go up and forward, the functions advance, and become more human, more conscious. The lizard brain is the part of the brain that we have in common with lizards, a very primitive form of life, compared to humans. There are all sorts of processes jumbled together rather than logically organized. Some of the processes are optimized for only certain kinds of situations, while others don't work as well as they could. There's some duplication of effort, and even some conflicting brain processes
Why would your god structure our brains like this?
Or could it be that the human brain is a map of evolution?
Hmm?
And before you all freak out and say "that's not true!" I suggest you look it up. I'm not going to do your homework for you.

Or the Neo-Cortex, Mid-Brain and Reptilian ( or lower brain). The lower is for base instincts and contains the Pleasure Center. The cortex is our higher abilities to reason. What is fascinating is that they have done tests on people of faith and people of higher intelligence. They have found the frontal cortices in religious people to be significantly smaller in most cases. The frontal cortex expands with our increasing abilities to reason and shrinks when reason is aborted altogether.

thank's for ur information! I've known that there are 3 levels of consciousness.. But those 3 brains was new for me.. And now im getting curious,.. Is that both of these 3 elements was just the same,or definitelly different? Because if it was, there will be possible to help the neurosis patients with the traditional method.. Such as meditation,hypnosis,etc..even carrying out while eating meat as they beleive that the emotion of the dead animals would affected our conscious condition. Like, getting so hard to be focussed on something,or even more emotional.. hehe this is what i thought..

I don't know why God created our brains like He did. However, I also think it's arrogant of us to assume we have our own brain figured out (which is still quite the mystery for science).

some say "lizard", some say "chicken".
The stages a fetus goes through is very similar, including the fish stage. I think it's rather neat. I suppose that we could have hatched instead of live birth. Now I believe that trait is affiliated with the mammal one, but this argument really has no passion to it.

Dude, you know this doesn't actually prove anything, right?
Using your argument here, you could say that multi stage rockets evolved from single stage rockets, after much competition over mating with the prettiest rockets in the launch hanger.

One detail:
It's called the 'reptilian brain', not the 'lizard brain', in most texts. To be honest, this is the first time I've encountered 'lizard brain' instead of 'reptilian'.

Why would God create the brain as he did? Because he could.Correct me if I'm wrong ,but isn't it the reptilian part of the brain? Do your homework.

Yeah, and why would god give us so many useless, vestigial body parts? Eg: Tail bone, wisdom teeth.
Why would he give dandilions sex organs? Why do some snakes have hipbones? Why are there flightless birds? Why are some infants born with tails?
