I don't know which religion it is that goes from door to door trying to sell their religion, but which ever religion it is, it's really annoying. These guys had enough of it, so they went from door to door trying to spread atheism. They had Darwin’s book the origin of species, and they were going around telling people that there was no God and that when they die, nothing happens. These people got so pissed. They were yelling at these guys and spitting on them and calling them devil worshippers. It's ok for them to spread their religion, but if atheists try to spread theirs, it's somehow bad. What a bunch of hypocrites.

Although, if the people did do what ytou claim, they were mean about it. But it just shows me that the majority of people know moral right from wrong and that there is a God even if they don't follow Him.

So sure, I can see what you said happened, happening.

I believe the ones that go door to door are either the Church of Christ of the Latter Day Saints or something close to it.

My experience with them was back in 1983 when I was doing mission work (a southern Baptist college student from Louisiana) in the heart of the Bronx in New York. I had a day off and they came to the house where I was staying. They (two young white men in their white shirts, black pants, tie and shoes) were very "enthusiastic" about telling me that it was their religion that was the true one and that I had to come to their way to get to heaven. I asked them the question that if they believed that only 144,000 Saints were going to heaven how was it that they had a membership of over 4 to 5 million, what was going to happen to the others who were not chosen to be selected to go to heaven? This caught them off guard and and I informed them I was there as a Christian and I did not think God would limit heaven to only that few people.

And yes, it is amazing that those who went around doing their own "disciplining of Darwinism" were spit upon by those who professed to be "lovers of God" and his compassion for others through Christ. What happened to the phrase of "love the sinner, hate the sin".

I have never gone door to door sharing anything. I must say that I do not like recieving uninvited guests. You should know that as a Christian, I still recieve people trying to convert me. :O WHAT! Even when I tell them, they still want to talk. I know its crazy but the only thing you can do is ask them to leave. I also don't like door-to-door salesman, telemarketers, my in-laws (who never call before showing up), well, anyone I did not ask to contact me. I would not have wanted atheists to knock on my door either, not because of what they had to say, but because this is my summer vacation and I don't want to see people I don't know.
I have never spit or cursed at anyone. The worst I have done is hang up the phone when a telemarketer refused to take 'no, no, no thank you, I have to go now, bye', for an answer.

it takes all kinds to make the world go around. I believe everyone EQUALLY has the right to state their beliefs "you need not agree on what they believe" yet they still have the right to believe as the choose. Everyone has the right to disagree no one has the right to silence anothers voice or thoughts. It's a balance i find any person who pushed what the think annoying yet they still have the right to do that i belive in protecting the right even thou it's annoying. .

There's a couple groups that go door to door; JW's for one, and Mormons for another.

I question whether this really happened, but I also wouldn't be surprised.

I thought being an atheist wasn't a religion? Weird!

I can't really speak to your question, but I can tell you how I dealt with the Jehovah's Witnesess' in my community. I was very proactive, I went to all their houses door to door and told them no in advance.

If you would bother reading the bible, you would realize, thank god, that hypocrisy is not a sin.
