What do you girls think about having sparklers at the reception...It's going to be about 10-10:30 when we leave the reception and I dont think bubbles would look very good at night...I LOVE the idea of sparklers, but my mom says that my dress will catch on fire...What is your opinion on sparklers at weddings? (As long as we follow safety precautions.) =) Thanks! -Emi

I know there is a bit of a risk involved...I was planning on having bubbles for the kids but I didnt think that bubbles would show up that well at night...I'm sure bubbles look great in pictures during the day time...Well, it's either this or we dont have anything...which is fine with me...This wedding is becoming a little too stressful...Eloping sounds really good right now... =) Thanks for all your answers!! I think they would be GORGEOUS but I am a little afraid of other peoples clothing being burned...Ahh, the joys of getting married...-Emi

Just to let you know, we had bubbles at our wedding and the pictures turned out amazing. I received a ton of compliments on the pictures with bubbles once everyone was able to access our pictures on line.
As far as the sparklers go, I would think twice about that and here's why:
If you're having children present at this wedding....need I say more? They're too dangerous for children to have and be prepared for screaming if the children see a bunch of adults waving around this fiery stick and they're not allowed to.
I've heard that the sparks from the sparklers have permanently ruined wedding gowns, black marks, burn marks, etc. You're walking under them or at least very closed to them.
Once the sparklers begin to burn out, the smoke is horrible and looks pretty bad in pictures. I've seen many pictures and there was so much smoke from all of the sparklers, you couldn't even see the bride and groom making their exit.
Yes, they're pretty, especially at night but there are a lot of other things to consider.

I think it's a really cute idea. Just make sure that it's timed right so that you're coming out JUST as everyone has lit their sparklers. I was at a wedding last month where they had sparklers, and we were all told to light them, but then the bride stopped to hug a bunch of people before coming out, and by the time she came out, we were all just holding sticks (without sparks).

I think it's a great idea. I had a friend do it and she and her groom just loved it. Her dress didn't catch fire, everyone was smart enough not to wave the dang things near her. I say go for it if you are having a late reception. Just make sure that the person taking pictures can make you and your groom look good with the sparklers flying. Congratulations!!!

I don't like the idea. Besides the flammability issue of clothing, Sparklers aren't the safest thing. I trip to the ER is a real buzz kill, especially when people are drinking. If it's outside and you're anywhere that's having the drought, it's another problem.

I think it is your wedding and you can do whatever you want. I think sparklers is a cute idea. As long as you hold the sparkler out you will be fine.

I think it sounds really pretty, especially at night!
Where I'm at, however, they are against the law...Be sure to check the local regulations on this, especially if you're having the reception in a town other than where you live.

I think as long as you are safe about it and check with the codes of the city you will be getting married in that it is a LOVELY idea! I don't think your dress will catch on fire.

Sparklers would be really pretty at night...but even with caution, accidents happen. Play it safe and use those light stick thngs...they are pretty and safe, and a lot of fun!
