The church in Los Angeles or something has given out $660,000,000 (£330,000,000) to hundreds possibly thousands of former-children who had been sexually abused ranging from $100,000-$4,000,000...
Why is the church a breeding ground for sexual predators? The Vatcian has also been in on this "game" (Source: Panorama TV series) ...
I thought the church was against rape, sodomy, and sexual abuse or abuse for that of any kind?
So religion is basically worse for children and getting their hopes down and their belief in god falls as well...
So why does the church breed these predators?
Religion is a ironic thing really - BAD for people...especially for future Christians...

It's not just Los Angelos it is happening and has happened
in cities all over America. There might not be enough money to settle all of the cases of abuse.
Suppression of natural human needs and desires is never a good thing. When such denial is put into practice that turns readily to deviant behaviors and should be expected. That's a lot of money for sex, maybe a better way can be found to satisfy those most natural needs of humans. Possibly the
Nuns and Priest will be allowed to marry. They were allowed to marry before, maybe they can again.
Kind of gives a terrible twist to the words " suffer the little children that come unto me ".

It is sick our children and their innocence are the most precious things and people who violate them are beyond words . what good is money it cannot buy back the victims childhood .
This is unforgivable and the church must make sure that people in positions of trust are trustworthy . Speaking as a Protestant I can only say that from what I know .As someone who has worked among children in a church . I would rather have any torture than allow my self or anyone else to harm one of these little ones . All children's workers have an enhanced police check but of course if they have not been convicted or even suspected this would not come to light . Abuse is always wrong there is no excuse . Religion is bad it is mans manipulation of faith in a higher being for mans good .faith in and adherence to gods rules is the way Religion has covered up so many atrocities and it must stop .Priest in RC Church are forced to be celebrate and not all can cope with this ,some sickos see the church as a easy place to get access to Innocent children .the church is not above the law and should be more accountable to society especially the young and vulnerable.

Can you think of a better place for a homosexual to hide?
Traditional, to be homosexual was considered by society's as an unacceptable life style.
But should that person hid his intentions under the cloak of the cloth, then the family would not feel ashamed for raising such a son or daughter but rather relived believing that they will some how merit extra credit with god for raising someone who is willing to dedicate their life to in the name of religion.
This is nothing new, the practiced of having priest and priestess living this way as is with the modern Catholics religion, has been practiced throughout history regardless of the religion.

I thought the church was against rape, sodomy, and sexual abuse or abuse for that of any kind?
I thought human kind was... For the most part. People violate people. Don't make it a religious issue. The Preists should have known better, but ANYONE should know better. I shouldn't be held to a higher standard by others than others are....
There is ONE LAW. Any violator of THE LAW should be punished. Not MORE punished because they should have known better OR NOT PUNISHED because they didn't know. Ignorance is no excuse... Foreknowledge shouldn't bring a harsher punishment.

Oh good grief. Do you believe every hyped up report you hear??
Sexual predators are EVERYWHERE. They are in EVERY faith. You know what should really scare you? Those other churches are obviously better at covering it up since they aren't all over the news.
I know it happened but you are acting like every Catholic Church out there is evil and plotting. "Breeding ground for sexual predators?" Any place or organization that has high trust levels is going to have extortionist and child molestors. It's the nature of the beast. Yes it's awful and scary but don't lay it at JUST the Catholics door.

Paedophiles don't want a wife they want to molest children, a priest does not molest children because he has not got a wife.
The Catholic Church should report every paedophile to the police at once, and not move them to another Parrish.
I never thought I would write this, but credit where credit is due, The Jehovah Witness
does not move the Paedophiles around, they kick them out right away.

Not all priests are sexual predators, but if a priest is found out, you will tend to hear more about it because it is a priest that is involved and the media just love to go for the jugular. I would think that these perverts are to be found in every walk of life, but some are just more prominent individuals than others.

The same reason there are sexual predators in schools, in protestant churches, in your neighborhood. The priesthood offers a pedophile easy access to children the same as any trusted profession. Stop looking at the church and look to mankind. Pedophiles are everywhere.

The problem is that to become Roman Catholic priest, they must take an oath of celibacy. Celebacy is biblical but on a voluntary basis. Roman Catholic priests have no choice. The problems then arise when they have sexual urges that have to be denied. The rest is history.

The churches are weak, politicised and riddled with corruption. They bear little resemblance to original Christianity. It's all be nice to everybody and stand up for nothing. Even blatantly ignore New Testament specifics. Just don't assume that all who profess faith have sunk so low.
