Do you go to school?

What time to you have to be at school? Count back the time it takes to get there. (LIke, if you have to be at school at 8:30, and it takes 30 minutes to get there, back up to 8 a.m.) Now figure how long it takes you to get ready. Say another half hour to brush your teeth, dress, eat a decent breakfast, make your bed. You're back to 7:30. That's what time you need to get out of bed, every day, even on breaks (it messes up your sleep patterns to start sleeping in over the summer...too hard to get back on schedule in fall).

A person hitting puberty, like you, needs 10-12 hours of sleep a day. Say 10 for you. That means you need to go to bed at 9:30.

If I was your mom, I would make you go to bed at 9:30, so I think you might as well be really grateful that your mom lets you stay up to 11:30.

But if you really, really, REALLY want to stay up later, here's what you do. Hop out of bed in the morning and do a bunch of chores. Not just yours, but hers too. Show her you can handle less sleep and still have a ton of energy to accomplish a lot. And remember, once she starts letting you stay up later, don't quit. You have to keep proving yourself.

I don't see why in the summer you can't stay up until whenever you want because you have no where to go the next day. But during the school year you really do need to get at least 8 hours of sleep if not more since you are still growing.
I would ask your mom to make a compromise. Ask her if you can stay up until whenever you want during the summer and on Friday and Saturday nights during the school year. She should make you go to bed at 9:00 pm on week nights, so she is actually being very nice. You're just too young to realize it! Don't take what you already have for granted!

to be honest, you don't need help with this problem, because you should respect the fact that your MOM lets you stay up as late as 11:30 or 12. At the age of twelve, my bed time was 9:30, and although I wasn't too happy with it then, I never questioned my mom's tactics, because I knew they were probably best for me. So what you should do, is stop playing the role of a "PAIN" right now, and just respect what you MOM wants you to do.

You get to stay up until 11:30 to 12!! I have to go to bed at 9:00 (10:00 weekends and vacations) with my two little sisters. I'm 16.

I'd suggest trying to explain to your parents why you should be allowed to stay up. Do it calmly and rationally. If you get/seem upset, they will ignore you.

Don't give your mom a hard time. She's doing this for your own good. Like others mentioned, you are still growing and you will need 7-8 hours of sleep per night to allow your body to function normally. By the way, past midnight that is the time when your body works to recover from the day's events including eliminating toxins etc. So sleep early and wake up early will bring you good health. I know this doesn't sound great to an active teen but trust me because your body will thank you for it! And don't forget your mom is doing this because she loves you very much.

Dude, I never got to stay up as late as you; deal with it. Instead of trying to stay up late, try waking up earlier in the morning. You'll fall asleep faster. At this point in your life, you need more sleep. Keep your room dark and cool, ei air conditioning or an open window. Avoid eating after eight o clock, and do some stretching right before bed. Good luck!

Start being responsible and use your manners. Your mom would love that. Do chores and house work that will make her happy give it two weeks then ask while your doing laundry if you could maybe stay up later.
