we are moving at the end of the year, but i can't stand my job. there are many positives with it, but they are not outweighing the frustrations, right now.

would you stick it out for 5 more months until you move or would you start job hunting??

thanks for your input!

for those of you wondering about the details:

it's a small company. it's only 4 of us in this office and his mill about 1 hour away. i do mainly admin stuff and working for the owner is like playing cards with someone and THEY make up the rules as you go along. so, no matter how long you play, it always changes so you can never feel like you know what you're doing!
i've been here for about 1.5 years and it's just getting very taxing!

thanks!

Well, quickly scanning the replies so far, the consensus is stick it out. You do not say how much you need the money. If you can get by without the salary, I would strongly suggest considering turning in your resignation. You may want to give something like three weeks notice or offer to come in on day after your boss hires someone new to help them get aquainted with things.

You have to quit sometime, so now versus five months from now is not a major issue. The key, regardless, is leaving on a positive note.

The reason I suggest leaving now is the fact that you do not like your current job. One should be happy in what they do. Also, during the five months, if you need a bit of cash, you may be able to pick up some temporary jobs or a short-term job. You could also look into working for a temp agency for the five months, just to get you through if you need more cash. Also, if you are moving, there is a lot to do, this will free you up to take care of the details.

Ultimately the decision is yours, do what feels right or you. Good luck on the decision and the move.

stick it out for 5 more months. looking for a job is way too stressful and you have no idea what kind of outcomes may come from it. you might as well stick with a steady paying job and really have your closure with the company when you leave. i was in the same situation. im going away to college and im tired of my job and wanted to quit and find a new one, but then i realized there wasnt a point because its just a while longer (esp if youve worked there for a year and a half already) and you can move on all together when the move happens. im sticking it through, and i dont regret it. ive got a couple of months left to go and i know that when the time comes, ill be done with hte company, say my farewell, while having some money in the bank. hope that helped :)

It would look better on your resume if you stick it out and wait to get a new job when you move. I know it can be frustrating but it will make finding a job easier at the next place. Trust me I know I am in a military family and have been doing this for over 22+ years!

Stick it out. Will look better on resume when you get to your new location. If you leave now, potential employers will want to know why - and telling them that the environment was frustrating isn't going to get you hired. Stick it out, maybe leave 3 weeks before you are due to move to give yourself a reward for sticking it out. Good luck!

Stick out the 5 months. Be sweet as candy. Leave on a great note.

Make sure your boss signs a letter of reference for you.

Good references are hard to find.

Stick it out, then stick it to them.
