The religion of our Prophet is Islam, which means Peace. Peace comes to your heart and your mind when you realize deep within your soul that there is an Almighty Power, who is much more capable than any of us and who is good and merciful and He is in control!!

If all nations of the World would realize this, they will stop fighting and stop worrying about this or that. Ironically the Prophet was born in rough times in a violent place called Arabia. The people of that time and place were fairly uncivilized and did not like his message which taught equality for all people.

It was a stratified society at that time, so many of the Arab chiefs got upset with the Prophet for teaching that the african slave who worked without a wage was equal to the arab chieftiain who could if he willed kill the slave and no one would bat an eye or ask him why he did such a wrong to another human being. In such conditions when the Prophet began to teach the message of peace and equality among all human beings, the Arabs of that time began to make fun of the Prophet, then began to verbally abuse him and then physically abused him and finally planned to kill him to shut him up. When he and his small band could not bear with the abuse and murder, they left the city of Mecca where the Prophet grew up and moved to Medina, a city where his message was well received.

All Muslims lost their property, their businesses and livelihood because of the forced immigration. This laid the foundation for conflicts which took place over the next ten years. At the end the Prophet returned to Mecca triumphant and all Arabs seeing the impossible odds against which he fought and won, accepted Islam enmasse.

Islam by the way also means submission of your will under the Will of God. Thus anyone who has obeyed God deliberately is technically a Muslim. Thus we consider Moses to be a Muslim and also Jesus, who obeyed God. Adam by this definition was the first Muslim.

What was required of a Muslim changed from time to time, based on the circumstances of an era. But ultimately Islam means peace that comes out of the willing submission of your own will and freedom under the Laws and Orders of the Almighty as one understands them.

I hope this makes sense.
