Depends, are you talking about the gangster wannabes, slow witted honest farm hands, or the mixed breed dog mutts?
Does this cholo have papers, was he born here, or is he illegal, did he come from Mexico or Argentina? Does he swear loyalty to America or some other country?
My answer would depend on the answers to my questions.
You need to be clear.
If he is legal and claims loyalty to the US, then I would call him an American.
If he is not legal or is pro-illegal I would call him a criminal.
If he was a dog, then I would call him a mutt and not worry about it.

Moody, your racism is showing. Can't you at least argue like a big kid and say something offensive about the question, rather than just being offensive? It's more fun to argue then.
At least the two you are talking about are as easy to spot as you are though.

Man, I havn't heard that tag in a long time... But...
It makes you neither. You are caught in a political and racial vortex that will eventually send you flying into...
straight into the arms of a chola (a female cholo closely resembling Elvira ,Mistress of the night) in East LA man where you are doomed to spend eternity being bounced around in a heavy Chevy that jumps around to make the dingle balls sway back and forth.

A cholo is an American as well, they are mixed with Amerindian and Spanish ancestory. Depending on who you ask and where they are from you might get a different meaning of the word cholo.

I always thought a cholo was a farm or ranch hand who
was hard working and honest. Rich but not in Earthly goods.
He could be any nationality. Look like you just exposed
some lazy minds that would rather be a bigot than intelligent.
Buena suerte.

I'm accustomed to thinking of 'cholo' as a look - a wannabe gangster look. I remember it being more common in my area in the past, now it's been suplanted (among stupid kids who want to identify with career criminals) by the 'urban'/hip-hop look.
