i mean like do they give it to you in your arm or your buttocks.

Most boosters are given in the arm by a small needle. Depending on the vaccine, they are given im (intra-muscularly) or sub q (subcutaneously, into the fatty layer). If a patient is particularly obnoxious we may use a much larger needle and give the shot in the wazoo, but our attorneys discourage the practice. Lawyers take all the fun out of life. :(

Adults ideally should get a dT (diphtheria and tetanus) booster every 10 years. Older adults may get the pneumococcal vaccine and an annual flu shot which is not exactly a booster.
