I've heard every excuse in the book given: Please give me a star, I'm depressed! Please give me a star, my boyfriend broke up with me! Please give me a star, my cow has rabies! The only person who went about it in a clever manner was Avatard, and yes, I gave him a star because his question about it was clever, if a little obvious, but no one else.

Isn't it obvious that they are just trying to rack up stars? For the record, I have no stars left to give to people who so blatantly beg for them. I'll give stars for good questions, that's it.

If anyone begs for one, my answer is I have no stars left. They all got raptured!

Ever since grade school, we have been trained that receiving a Star, helps our self-esteem. We now feel important that we have a Star. I wish we could receive them on the foreheads of our Avatars. THEN, I would be asking for more.

But I'm with Cheney (Darth, that is), I would rather have the Thumbs Up for the answer. Better yet, I would rather have the Best Answer.

I hear, when you get enough points, and at a high level you can cash it in for a new 10-speed bike. (Obviously, you can tell my age, now)

Nevertheless, You get a star from me, Brecht!

I don't get it either. If I was depressed I'd ask for nice words, not stars. I guess it makes some people feel special.

I star questions that I find interesting, thought-provoking, and funny. Oh, and the ones that I don't know the answer so I can go back and read other people's opinions.

LOL and Amen! I don't get it either besides what is the purpose of having many stars..hmm...a measure of popularity mabe. well, for the record begging for stars looks pathetic.
You, my friend Brecht, get a shiny new star from me.
Edit:
Darth, I am incapable of giving a thumbs down..lol..so take the thumb up I'm giving you

My understanding was you got more points based on the number of stars you had- like 25 stars and up got you 100 points.

I'm not sure.

that's incorrect to ask stars for each question. in the experience that your question is interesting you will get a celebrity with out asking them each and every time to offer celebrity or asking them to no longer forget to offer celebrity.

A star should be the ultimate compliment to the question asker.

I miss the thumbs up/thumbs down for questions.
