Ok, first things first...I'm not a shy/quiet person AT ALL!!! But when I first meet a guy that I kinda like, I just close up and become soooo quiet! Isn't that odd? I've always been this way and I don't know why.

I think it's because I get nervous and am scared of making a bad first impression. It just takes me a while to open up and be myself, ya know?! But by that point, it could be too late!
All my friends know that I'm veryyy loud and love to talk and meet new people. But I just get soooo shy when I'm around a guy I like!

What should I do? How can I get more relaxed? I want the guy to know the real me and not think that I'm alwaysss shy and quiet! But its just soo hard, cause I dont wanna say the wrong thing and have him think that I'm wierd or something.

Any suggestions? thoughts? advice?

I have the same issue.... i am sooooo crazzzzzzzyyyy believe me and soooo many people think that i am a quiet reservbed pperson, that is untill they get to see the real me and then they are like omg i thought you were gonna be a boring person... im like no i just need time to open up... i just think i have to be myself because that way they are going to like me for me...
and if they dont like my personality then it wasnt meant to be (friendwise/or relationship wise)
beleive me i kno its hard but its better results i the end when you can just totally be yourself...
tell the person a little about yourself and try to find things in common so that you can get a good conversation started ...
i am sure it will all work out in the end.. it just takes practice to overcome being shy

good luck :)

This will change as you get older (hopefully). We all are more insecure around someone who's opinion we feel matters, plain & simple. My trick is to get back to the basics of conversation: meaning try to think of it as very general, polite conversation that you would force with anybody=whether it's Grandma, the President or a doctor-anyone-and that genral speech will take you throught the beginning moments of the conversation with him and as that time passes you will sub-consciously feel more at ease and you will find yourself talking as like a friend! Remember, just focus on the fundamentals, which more simply means discussing simple, current & relavent topics on the surface-don't go to deep.

It helps a lot to have your good friends around. It's a lot easier to be yourself when you're with close friends.

Other than that, this is just something that takes time to get used to. I think you're right that you're afraid you might say or do the wrong, it happens to a lot of us when we're put in new or stressful situation.

Just work really hard to be yourself and tell yourself all the time that you're not going to be shy around guys.

I will not be shy around guys! Stand in front of the mirror and say it to yourself if you have to. Your brain will begin to believe you :)

Good luck!

Believe it or not most guys are shy also. Be yourself and that helps them to be more themselves. Many of the men that I have met, whether I've dated them or not have told me that it was so easy to talk and be themselves around me because I was. Just do it and quit thinking about it. Now if you are usually really goofy then you might want to tone down just a bit. Use your best judgement and follow their lead to a certain degree.

I would suggest making small talk. Ask him how his day was, what he did, etc. It's amazing how even the little conversations can make a person loosen up!And remember, it's all about having fun!

Pretend you are a news reporter.
Ask the men about their day,
their job, or about some sport they watch.
That will get them talking.
