I was with one guy for 6 years. Things were great the first 3. We moved in together and about 6 months in, the communication stopped. We stayed together for a total of 8 months before I couldn't take it no more and left. That was the first 8 months of no communication. And when I say no communication-I mean NONE. We didn't even say hi to eachother hardly. We were not in a relationship-more of a co-habitation.
After a year of being apart, we managed to somehow get back together, promising eachother that things would change. They didn't. There was another 6 months. Broke up again. Still not ready to part, got back together again......and another 6 months went down the drain. So, I spent one year and 8 months in a relationship without any communication. I highly recommend not doing that.......

Probably last summer. I had no e-mail or IM, and my boyfriend had a phone, but no cell phone, so we never really called. It was a l-o-n-g summer. We've kept in touch much more this summer, and the longest we've gone without communicating this summer would be 3 weeks when I was on a road trip with my family. Much better than a whole summer apart!

That depends on what you mean by communication.
There are people who spend a lifetime with someone and never truly communicate. But it's no surprise you can see people here all the time who fully believe you shouldn't communicate at all. They think the way to say something is through flirting, hinting and giving meaningless signs.

hmm... Well my husband used to live 4500 miles away, when we were dating and I think the longest we went without a full conversation had to be about 2 weeks!
Trust is all you need to make some relationships work!

I can't allow myself to not communicate with my girl. I was a communication major in college, so communication is obviously very important to me. Without communication a relationship has very little chance of communicating.

my ex liked to write letters instead of e-mail or phone (it was long distance during college summer) and when i got a hold of him, he said he'd been saving up info to write me a letter. and to him that somehow seemed normal...
