I moved to MA recently and will be in MA for just a year; can I just keep my original state plate for now and not change into MA state?

Check the website below for MA info. They seem to cover everything so the answer should be in there. If not, they have phone numbers to call to find out. Some states do not allow you to keep your out-of-state registration/license plates.

Good luck on your move.

Unless you are a student you have 60 days to get a MA plate and insurance.

I'm sure there's a law that states if you are a MA resident, you have to register you car in MA. I don't know how well it's enforced in MA, but in AZ, it's a big deal and a hefty fine if you're caught.

Many States depend on the reason for you being there. If you are there for work, most will make you get their plates. Where I have lived, they have had a 30 day rule for getting the plates.
