Does anyone try cooking food you don't have a recipe for just by experimenting?

I do this all the time and most of the time the stuff turns out good, especially casseroles.

Always! It is one of my greatest joys, and I have several fans of my cooking. I just have to learn to cook a little healthier. LOL I don't like packaged meals so I do it all from scratch. God Bless Garlic

I thought that everyone did it. I have to admit that I have had some dismal failures over the years, but the hits have become some of my family's favorites.

Try soups, too, They are more open to non-failure than casseroles, I find.

Yep, I am broke most of the time and have to make do with what I have- Like you, most of the time it turns out good, but sometimes it looks like a science experiment gone horribly wrong!

My daughter is the world's best at creating new dishes. She loves cooking and always adds her own touch to recipes.

Oh yes, I've got a dozen variations on pasta salad by this, and I made a lovely rosemary-mushroom sauce for fish by experimenting.

yes of course. most peole do. that is how i came up with the best coleslaw i ever ate and guests usually agree, most want to know how i made it.
that the fun of cooking, but if you are having guests, have a backup, just in case LOL

Yeah I like making things up just with what I have. I don't follow recipes exactly unless I am baking cakes, cookies, or pies.
