Take him to a Russian restaurant or rent some DVD's about Russia. They may have a Russian club where you live.We used to go to one when I was a little kid back in Conn.My dad was born in Russia. If he would go back for a visit, he may get over the sad feeling and be glad to leave, maybe he forgot why he left.

I understand what you are saying. I am from Russia myself, married here in the USA.

The only thing I would tell you is to take a trip to Russia with him. Just for a week or two. He will feel way better after that.

I could not go back for about 6 years and I am completely driving my husband nuts. I know that Russia is dirty and old, still lines everywhere, but it is "Rodina" ("Motherland"), and nothing ... not even a Disneyland or any unbelievable sale in the greatest Mall in the US can make me feel better if I am homesick.

Give him two weeks in Russia and believe me he will be normal loving husband again.

Talk to him about how he misses his country. Be open and hear him out. Share his grieving with him. That should help. Also, save up so that you could take a trip there together. That'll give him something to look forward to, and you can share his memories with him at the actual places that he had them!

Ration his food and toilet paper, edit his news and take away some of his basic freedoms. That should make him feel right at home. In the long term always vote for the Democratic candidate or you can move to the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts

Maybe take a week or to to take him there or let him go. He may feel better if you try having some of his customs used in your home. It should make him feel right at home.
