I was already having a rotten morning when a coworker accidentally dropped my fresh fruit cup from the company's fridge. It was a fresh fruit cup I was so seriously looking forward to and it cost me $4.00. Should I (a) Ask for for $4.00 so I can go buy a new one (b) Forget about it (c) Ask her to buy me a replacement fruit cup tomorrow at the place I got it or (d) Let her buy me a fruit tomorrow from the place of her choice? Seriously this was one awesome looking fresh fruit cup.

Okay she ended up buying me a new fruitcup from the Organic store downstairs. It wasn't the same but hey it was organic and I think it did cost more. By the way the fruitcup I lost was from Chick-fil-a. They do an awesome fruit cup - you should all try it

What's the relationship? Is she a coworker you like, a supervisor, or what? What did she say?

If she has any sense she'll replace it. You may have waited too long, next time ask for the replacement right away. She'll think it's odd that you were brooding over the fruit all day. Also, don't use the company fridge. People do wierd stuff like eat or drop other people's food.

Even tho it was an accident, she should have offered some sort of compensation and apologised. If she didn't offer compensation, I would have said something right then to prompt her, like, "Figures. Now I have to go get something else to have for lunch." or "Now I have nothing to eat for break/lunch." Or, "Man! That cost me FOUR BUCKS!"

(for me, 4 bucks is a lot of money for a snack)

After that, it is in her hands. If she doesn't do the right thing, then all you can do is keep that in mind in future dealings with her and act in accordance with what you now know you can expect from her. Also consider packing your snack/lunch carefully if you're going to put it in the office fridge, to try to protect it from such clumsy, selfish people. Maybe the place you bought it from would tape the lid on, and put it in a bag for you?

Some days are diamonds. Some days are coal.

Unless the coworker volunteers or you're so desperate for money you'd eat your keyboard, forget about it.

If the coworker volunteers to replace the fruit cup then it should be from where you bought it - not of her choice.

b) Forget about it. Accidents just happen. Or maybe it was karma. Maybe there was some bad unseen bacteria in that fruit. The co-worker might have saved you from serious illness or even death. For good or ill, you just weren't meant to have that fruit cup. Let it go.

Well, you answered your own question and you got a new, more expensive organic fruit cup. Sounds like a good day!

For Christ sakes let it go ... Do NOT Start a war over a fruit cup .
For future reference ask for a bag next time and leave it in the bag.

Unless she offers, you should forget about it. The polite thing for her to to would have been to offer a replacement immediately, but not all people have manners. I don't know how long you've waited since it happened, but it's probably going to start looking strange if you ask her about it now.

Next time you see her put something in the fridge, take it out and throw it away after she leaves. Make sure you push it way down in the trash. Hey, it WILL make you feel better! heh Especially since she didn't offer to get you another fruit cup!

ask her to buy you another today while she goes out to lunch. Or she needs to get you some other lunch! You had a lunch she ruined it... she should replace it.
