Well if your idea is original and not a mere copy with a small modification you can get this registered. By doing so you have the legal right to own this concept. You should have started on the patent registration way back when the concept was being developed. That way by the time you completed the concept and the necessary checks done by the patent department you would have exclusive right to that concept. Now, what will happen is that even if someone does copy this you cannot file suit as you do not have the exclusive right. To gain this right requires time. You could however start the registration process and then print the disclaimer “Awaiting Patent registration" this way you are safe, but only till the results of the patent right organisation are released. If this goes in your favor then you have the patent right. Otherwise you lost it. The only reason for loosing a patent is when the concept is already registered with the organisation.

If it can be patented or othewise registered, go ahead. Else, you can only be the first in the race by being aggressive in innovating the service.

Patents, document all your work along with dates that are certified. That way someone else can't come and say I was doing that same thing months before you did it. Good luck with you idea's.
