Is, for them, confidence & strong faith 'a sin'?
A sign of 'ignorance'?
Is it merely education that 'maketh a man', or are there other qualities of heart & mind required?
Does a medical degree make you a good 'judge'?
Does modern medicine have all the answers?
Is there anything more to us than electrical impulses crossing synapses, having evolved randomly from soup?

Compassionate Angel: I think you may be right.
Terrible G: Excellent response. I think though, that the side effects of psyche medication can be more terrible than sadness itself, which does change, and can often be exaggerated or midiagnosed.
Mindfulness based cognitive therapy, for example seems a good / better way forward, in many cases - though it does seem in fairly experimental stages in the West, it's been practised for two millenia in South East Asia, Tibet & China, with tangible results.
