Always wondered that when i watch an American show and the people are scoffing them.

No stereotype i seen them on lots films or sit coms, Everybody loves Raymond, Friends, Grease. How else would i know about them? They dont sell them in England.

First off, the ones that are made fun of are produced by a company called Hostess, which has a monopoly on this celebrated form of American junk food

Let's see..how do I translate?....A BAP...filled with whipped
cream...might suffice..It's ..no wait! I KNOW you have muffins because of
"Oh do you know the muffin man
the muffin man the muffin man
Oh do you know the muffin man
Who lives on Drury Lane?
Oh yes I know...etc..."
A cupcake is EXACTLY like a muffin filled with whipped cream........whereas...
A Twinkie...is a cake-like dessert shaped very much like a hot
dog...um..wiener...no..a frankfurter...Ahh!...A Banger! Yes, shaped like that..and also filled with a white creamy goo.(This is starting to sound racy.)
They come two in a package, and have an excess of sugar and preservatives.
A guy in San Francisco murdered someone and
complained to the jury that he had eaten "too many twinkies'
and committed his crime in a sugar-addled haze. Surprisingly, the jury sympathized and let him off with a light sentence. This case was widely known through Western Culture as "The Twinkie Defense". Later, the guy (Dan White) committed suicide.
Again, I suspect..too many twinkies!
Twinkies are often derided and mocked for their long
shelf life..which, by your measurements could add up to "tens of fortnights." I hope this thoroughly acquaints you with Twinkies. If you eat them at the same time you have a White Castle burger, God help you!

a twinkie is a yellow sponge cake with a white filling and cup cakes are normally a chocolate cake with the same cream filling and chocolate frosting on top.

Twinkies are yellow cake filled with whipped cream & Cup Cakes are chocolate cake with chocolate frosting layered on the top with a swirl of white frosting across the top - they both are very yummy, but if splurging & having to choose one for dessert, then a Cup Cake it is....very yummy!

They are desserts that are premade in a factory and sold in a box in the market. they are filled with cream and frosted like a small cake. Twinkies are vanilla and cup cakes are chocolate. i think they are mostly considered to be for children .

I wonder what "American" shows you are watching. I think you are just buying into a stereotype.
Most educated Americans do consider twinkies a "joke". There's no nutritional content and a whole lot of preservatives. I don't know any one who eats that crap, at least not anyone in good health.

they are snack cakes that are made with crap, crap, and more crap...don't ever eat that stuff!
