Actually, the atheists do it all the time. Often there's no better refutation of religion than the scripture it's based on.

Everyone has the right to quote scripture. I certainly have no problem with that. Christians are not supposed to be bigotted, but, there are ones who are just that. None of us should ever claim to have all the answers( so to speak ), but when Scripture is quoted, it should be done in the full context of what came before the quote & what comes after. There are so many ways people interpret scripture. You can take1 verse & build a whole Denomination out of it, like some have. So, I for one, am a Christian who believes what the Bible says, but you are entitled to what you believe.

I dont think Christians should quote scripture unless someone asks to hear it. Or, if the question can only be answered with a scripture, such as "Why do you believe God created the Universe" an answer would be "Genisis 1:1 says...." and then you should also include your own words and reasons. Quoting scripture is useless to anyone who isnt interested in what scripture says about something and yes, ANYONE can take scripture out of context. If you look at my answers, very few contain scripture quotes unless they were necessary.

Well, I like quoting scriptures, and I do find it different when a person quotes a Bible verse and feel that the Bible is God's Word of Life, their Light then a person who just thinks it's just words... The Bible is not just another Book is the Living Word of God and one that knows God knows how Living the Scriptures are... Everyone should know what the Bible says and everyone should seek to know God who can change a life...

The Bible is pretty much of no great spiritual use to anyone. It is just a mish-mash of many various texts and traditional writings from a 3 or 4 thousand year time period. It is valuable as a collection of historical stories and histories, many of which have been proven to be true acheologically but it is not very useful for anything else, except perhaps to spread confusion and narrow-mindedness. Imagine to yourself how many people have killed in the name of God, their Bible in their hand or in their pocket.
I never quote from such a bogus source.
The Bible was written by men with all their inconsistencies and shortcomings. It was not written by God as Christians suggest. They say things like: "God said it, I believe it, and that's it."
Well Hooraw! How perfectly idiotic!
Unfortunately they are stuck in this ancient "My God is better than your God" mode just like the Muslims, and all these people probably always will be stuck. The word Bible simply means book. Has anyone ever reached personal enlightenment through the Bible? I think not.

I think it's sad and amusing when PEOPLE make some bigoted statement and then quote the Bible to justify it, or any other historical reference, for that matter.
I find it even more sad and amusing that people like you continue to lump everyone in the same boat.

Obviously it's not about the scriptures at all but who's quoting it. No devils allowed! (Perhaps you're holding the book wrong or something.) Still, the diabolical discussions tend to last longer and be more interesting.
Now, if the devil were to quote the parts about him in, say, the book of Job, I wonder what would happen?

Just about anything can be used to justify both good and bad behavior. This says much more about the people using it as justification than it does the bible (or any other book).

Manmade words for a manmade religion which is not exactly what Jesus brought down.
Yes, the Devil is in charge of spreading Christianity.
That is why the Catholics and Protestants both say exact opposite things and profess to be guided by the Holy Spirit.

anyone can quote the bible, some don't want to. it's a book open to interpretation by anyone who reads it. if you want your interpretation to be more accurate, try reading the first bit in hebrew and the second bit in greek and latin and maybe it will make more sense.
then again, after learning all those languages you might become more erudite and decide to quote other things as well.
