I'll confess. I was going above the speed limit a few days ago and I was caught. I was in a hurry, and I shouldn't have. I was pulled over and told I was going 63 in a 55 mph zone. I didn't argue. Well, on my way to work I noticed that he had written the ticket to say I was going 53 in a 40 mph zone which definatly was not true since the thruway was 55 and didn't hit 40 until AFTER the railroad tracks. Where he had caught me was BEFORE. At work, I had my mother check it out to make sure I was right. I was. She found the guy on the side of the road pulling over other people and told him how he had made a mistake. Well, should this get thrown out now? Calling the office this morning and found out he CHANGED it. Can he do that? I have the original ticket which still states it was 53 in a 40 mph zone. . .Should I continue to fight it or just give up?

Give up since your case would have been to contest it in court in front of a judge with proof. Not having that proof, I would not contest it. Since you gave the officer time to correct his mistake which is legal, you may as well pay the fine since you're only over the speed limit by 8. Anytime you get a ticket, look over all the information before you drive away and see if there's any item that is not correct. If you can prove this to the judge, it can be thrown out.

well before you get all hyped up, first look at your ticket and see what he wrote down for the location of offense. then go to that location and see if indeed the speed limit is as he said it was, if not, take pictures.
If indeed the officer changed the ticket, you should get a copy of the correction in the mail, this is mandatory on the officers part.
Next time don't let you mother get involved, note the discrepancies, take pictures and go to court, you would have won this one.

You have a fightable ticket. But you probably want to see a lawyer about this, since they changed the ticket. Lawyers who specialize in traffic usually don't charge an arm and a leg for speeding tickets.

IF his copy states diferent speeds to yours then all you need do is show this ticket to the judge in england this sort of behaviour would be thrown out of court.

If you believe that it was wrong and a miss thinking, you should continue and Get your own way. They will give in eventually. and they will believe you that you are right and they aren't

Continue it dude, that's what I would do. Fight for the good of man kind!!
