all it does is make you drowsy. After the body becomes regulated with Lithium, a moderate amount of drinking (1-2 drinks per day) will be possible, with only mild effects.

Well, the extreme case senario is a coma or even death. Alcohol can induce lithium toxicity.
However, in less extreme cases, you will notice that you get buzzed/drunk a lot faster and you may also throw up. The drunk feeling you get could be lithium toxicity or from the alcohol, it's hard to tell because the feelings are similar.
I also know a girl who had some drinks while on lithium and lost part of her memory for about 3 weeks and then everything went back to normal.
So, I guess it depends on how much you drink, but you will not act psychotic. You are not supposed to do it, but if you choose to, just be careful and go slow. Pay close attention to your body and make sure you can stop yourself. Hope this helps, good luck

I wouldn't recomend it. My brother in law did it and ended up being so intoxicated he assaulted someone, harmed himself and it took thrity cops surrounding him shooting bean bags and letting a dog loose on him to subdue him.

He was taking lithium for his bipolar. So his illness is factored into that. I had asked my psych about alcohol and lithium and he told me not to drink while on it becuase of the dangers of toxicity (I am also bipolar) and if your being treated for bipolar it's best to stay away from drugs and alcohol because they can worsen the symptoms or cause a relapse episode.
