Hi all. My mother-in-law used my baby's (4 months old) picture to make homemade mailing labels that she puts on envelopes that go to friends, family and even for bill paying! I really do NOT want my little baby's face all over the place like that. I talked to my sister-in-law about it (she was a recipient of a card with the address label on it) and she thinks that there are so many crazy people out there, that seeing a baby's face on the label, and associating it with home address can be dangerous. She also thinks that her mother has no right to use our baby's picture in that content. She brings up a very good point. It really is upsetting me. How should I approach this? I love my mother-in-law very much, but this is just over the edge. I also spoke to my mother about it, and she thinks it is very wrong, and also brought up the same "danger" warning. She should not be promoting MY child!

Hi all. I just sent this email to my mother-in-law. (Bob is her 40 year old son!).

Hi! I saw the cute address labels on our counter. Although they are very cute, I would rather you did not use them to send on letters. There are too many weirdos out there that can and would trace the baby back to the address or the family name.

If you want a picture to use on your labels, you can use Bob! Ha Ha!

Talk to you soon.

Talk to your husband and mother in law about it and express your concerns. You can't stop her from doing it, but you can let her know that it bothers you. It's one thing if she sent people Christmas cards or "I'm a new grandma!" cards with a picture of her and your 4 month old baby, but it's another for her to be paying bills with return address labels of your baby because you don't know what kind of identity theives are working at the billing department.

I am sure Grandma has no idea about the hidden dangers of doing it. She is a proud Grandma and wants to show off the baby. Have your spouse talk to her and tell her the hidden dangers from doing this, I am sure she will destroy the labels.

Then the 3 of you (and your baby's father if he is in the picture) should approach her together and tell her your issues with the labels.

just talk to her. explain your concerns. she might not realize what she is doing. she is probably just very proud and wants to show her off. you should not be talking to your sister-in-law about it...as it's not her child. that could end up hurting your mother - in - law if someone other than you approached her. just try talking nice to her, i'm sure it will all be fine.

its her grandchild.i personally do not see anything wrong with it.she is showing her love of that child.a preditor is going to be someone more then likely some one close anyway.i have never heard of someone going as far as seeking out a letter to find the baby,he doesnt even live with her.if someone wantedto find yourchild then they would start with you and your address.
