I think its rude! If you spend time answering someones question, you probably won't be the first response. But if they don't pick themselves it goes to voting. And people lazily pick the first answer.

Absolutely!
You might as well say, "I don't appreciate any of the time or effort anyone spends in putting together their answer - I just want to see my question in print. I can't bother being considerate nor appreciative."

In fact, knowing that over half of questioners never go back and pick a best answer, you could theoretically rack up a bunch of them just by being the only answerer.

I wish Yahoo would demote people back to level 1 if they have, say, over 50% of questions with no answer selected. Then people would get more responsible!!

p.s. Of COURSE people know that they can - they get REMINDERS of open questions! You have to really try HARD to be this inconsiderate! :o)

Rude or not has nothing to do with picking the 'Best Answer'.
I ask questions and most who answer, do so within an hour. I didn't even notice till the third time I asked a question that my pick was invalid because of the 4 hour wait time. I'm into something else by then!

I have had a few questions that I have asked and nobody answers the question to my satisfaction and in a couple of instances nobody answered the question at all, they went off on tangents and talked about their own thing to put a spin on the question I asked. In those instances, I will not pick a best answer. For most of my questions, I get well thought out or accurate info and I will absolutely give a best answer.

So my vote is: if you get good answers, even one, then you should give a best answer. If you get a bunch of trolls, let them vote it out themselves. They arent worth my effort.

via utilising reality of human beings who're like optimal of the human beings of people who characterize PETA placed out the incorrect result. i grew to alter right into a vegetarian for added or much less 2 years, or maybe then i presumed the human beings I heard on interviews from PETA have been ridiculous. Quote: "Vegetarians get attacked via people who devour meat on the streets." 'Nuff stated. I in basic terms think of of certainly everyone needs to rejoice with one yet yet another incredibly.. and not make stuff up approximately human beings in basic terms 'reason they do no longer settle for as actual with what diverse is doing. i'm no longer a vegetarian anymore for my section, yet I even have not have been given any concern with people who're.

I really haven't seen that except in situations where the first answers is the best one. Sometimes other answers have the exact same info. If that is the case, I always pick the one that gave the correct info first.
but i do not do it out of laziness.
And sometimes I pick the best answer and sometimes it goes to a vote.
i think it is more fun when you get to vote.

I agree, but not entirely.

I only believe a best answer should be chosen when Someone actually answers your question, but that then depends on how a person asks/phrases each question.

So if the question is answered, and it is a good answer not one of those stupid or bull crap answers, then yes I think that person should get the "best answer".

If the question isn't answered then I would have to say that no one deserves the "best answer".

:o)

Well, some of the questions are probably written by some one that was just asking questions, to ask them ,and they don't even check to see if they have answers.
And if they're new to questions and answers they might not know that they can choose.

Not really...

Those who already have an opinion often do not choose the BEST answer but the one that most closely resembles their own.

HOWEVER

People who are totally in the dark about the subject they are exploring should at least acknowledge that an answer did them some good.

While we're all here to learn and share ideas, I do think it's a tad rude. A well-thought-out answer usually takes time to write, and if the asker doesn't acknowledge it and it goes to voting, it feels like, "What as the point?" You kind of wonder, "Did he/she even read my answer? That's five minutes of my life I'll never get back, and he/she doesn't even care."

That's my take on it, anyway.

What if you don't consider any of the answers as helpful? Maybe there's no best answer. It happened to me more than once. It's not that I don't appreciate the effort, because I do it's just that there's no answer that I'd consider being helpful enought to give it a best answer rating.
