If the Feds won't do it the states and localities will. I don't think they should be here. Those with legal papers for working in agriculture are ok but if I have to pay more for food, at least my taxes will benefit Americans and not illegal aliens who disrespect our country and our laws. Maybe our children will have a chance for a decent education when they're gone. Maybe we can promote a better medical insurance plan for the uninsured with the taxes being spent on Americans, that would be ideal! I only hope that more states and localities will follow the example of Arizona, Oklahoma and several towns in our nation!

I heard that, and I applaud the law!
I also heard that business people were crying that this meant that if they "accidentally" hired an illegal immigrant, they could be penalized. I seriously don't feel that, since the actual law states that an employer must "make all attempts" in checking out the legality of the person applying for the job.
I am an employer, and a business owner. I already follow the state and federal law when hiring someone, by having them complete an I-9 form and calling to verify the information (as directed on the form). I think that is more than adequate. And it is rather easy.
By the way - I live in WI. This is something easy to do wherever you are in the nation. It is an excuse by people that don't want to do what they need to and follow the law.

One place at a time!
Yesterday Waukegan, today the State of Arizona!
Let's do Illinois tomorrow, OK?
(volleyballchick, I think if an employer 'accidentally' hires an illegal they should accidentally b sent to prison for five years, no early release, no parole, no Paris Hilton/cop jail either, the real thing. Two illegals hired means 10 years. It would all stop within two months and we could charge a toll at the southern border to illegals fleeing the country.)
(cute chika and cool chika are you the same person? I'll pay $20 for a head of lettuce to be rid of you!)

Its a great idea and a start. Now more cities and states need to do this. If they cant get a job then they will quit entering our country illegally.

I always find it funny that people advocate giving illegal immigrants rights. They are ILLEGAL, thus they shouldn't get any special privilege under our law. If i went and murdered somebody (i.e. did something illegal), would you support the government giving me help to get a job despite my criminal record?

This is not a good idea for the US economy. Think about where your fruits and veggies come from. Farms, right? Do you know who picks them? Illegal immigrants. Why, you ask? Because they will work for less than minimum wage. Let's put two and two together. Getting rid of illegal immigrants = more jobs for US citizens. Good, right? Wrong. Legal citizens will work for no less than minimum wage, which means that the cost of harvesting fruits and veggies will skyrocket, causing everyone to pay a lot of money for these everyday produce items. Now apply that theory to other jobs that illegal immigrants may hold. Factories, mills, etc. Everything we take for granted will go up in price because legal workers will have to be paid minimum wage. Think about that.

I don't think any state should follow that example. It's racist ,and illogic, they're just doing the leftover jobs ,the jobs that no gringo would want to do.Think about it $5 dollars an hour isn't very much. They're just doing those jobs for their families, and for a future they can't have in their countries.I'm a democrat ,and I'm proud of it![and you who asked the question you're just a racist guy think about those poor families who are suffering ,because of people like you]
