The one thing that helps me the most with dandruff or dry, itchy scalp is Neutrogena's T-Gel. It's made with coal tar so it really stinks, in my opinion. But it works. What I do is use it every other shampoo while I'm having problems. I'll follow the T-Gel with my regular shampoo and conditioner to help with the smell. Usually it's cleared up within a week.

I'd suggest you try several dandruff shampoos - check the label for active ingredients. Some work better for me than others - when my dandruff goes out of control, I use T-Gel by Neutrogena, or a generic equivalent.
Make sure that you leave the shampoo on for several minutes, to allow the medication to do its thing.
A cheap dandruff shampoo that works for me: Add some asprin (acetylsalicylic acid) to a bottle of regular shampoo. I tried that out when I noticed that one active ingredient in dandruff shampoos was salicylic acid.
But - next time you go to the doctor, have him or her check out your dandruff. There are multiple causes, including a fungal infection, which may require different treatments.

If dandruff shampoo and vigorous scrubbing is not enough, go see your doctor. There are prescriptions out there that treat dandruff really well. You might even be able to find some over the counter medication. I would definitely go see your doctor though. Good luck!!!

I've the answer my mother swears by this and it's worked for others in my family. Get a bottle of tea tree oil from the health food store, it's concentrated, so don't use a lot, but put some in your regular shampoo and shake it up, wash your hair with with this -it WILL get rid of your dandruff.

well,
u already have a lot of options to try out with .. in the above answers ..
i'd say u could try with gently rubbing a sour lime to your scalp. 15mins before u enter for a shower.
also, get a oil treatment for dry hair/scalp/dandruff .... rub the oil in your palms until it's a little warm and then rub it to yoru scalp. do this twice a week . it does help
also, after you've done with your shampooing and conditioning ... you could apply a dandruff treatment, hair cream... just a little bit to your towel dried hair ....(or else it'll look took sleek)
good luck

dandruff is natural because our scalp sheds skin every 28 days. if it itches, its not normal and there's some kind of head parasite whose name i forgot. i think its malasesia or malasezia. if you really want it gone, use medicated shampoo. dont share your comb or brush with someone with dandruff
