I'm only learning German, and i want new media to practice on.(there's a point where all the small talk of teachining tapes drives me mad). I really like Douglas Adams and i know all his stuff by heart (so i can follow the plot in German even though at the moment i speak very little German), I have the German version of his first book and i'm loving it, but i want more.

Some problems i'm encountering are:

1. I am having trouble understanding the German sites, to to find what i want, and i'm a bit unsure about payment and stuff in Englich so once it's in German i'm just lost.

2. I don't have a credit card and can't get one for a while, so i'm a bit stuck on payment options. (I could borrow a friend's credit card if there's no other way, but i'd preffer to avoid it.)

I always order from Amazon - I live in Australia as well. By the way, try the Penguin parallel text series, for example the short stories - on one page you have the English text, and on the opposite one you have the German translation. It's a great way to build up your vocabulary. You don't have to open a dictionary at all, and the stories are soooo entertaining.

I also find Mastering German Vocabulary (the Barron's series) excellent.

If you do want the Adams' novels in German, try www.amazon.de. I have the Hitchhiker's Guide myself. I don't know about paying, but I think they accept bank transfer as well as credit cards. At least the American site does. My sister lives in Vienna, so I don't have to worry about paying :)

There are many free sites avaiable on the internet. And no purchases are necessary for you to learn German.
A site that I prefer is the BBC network. On it it has many foreign languages from which you could learn and benefit.

There is also www.amazon.de
where you can purchase German language books. You might want to have the option of being billed. Most companies now a days do that.

If you like I would not mind being your Tutor. I am from Germany now residing in the USA for almost 16 years.
