In the bible it's ok to own slaves and women are property. That doesn't make it right in those areas. Just because it's written in a book doesn't force it as a necessary part of the religion.
Terrorists are not true muslims, they're murderers. They come from poor living arrangements, they're recruited at young, impressionable ages, and they're told of all the wonderful riches they'll receive if they kill themselves and a bunch of innocent people.
Part of the driving force behind it all is partly due to US foreign policy in the past.

Most people aren't extremist. Islam, Christianity, Judaism and other religions all call for some type of extremism. Because none of them rely on any real facts, other than a few historical references, they have to rely on getting the converts emotionally involved. They strongly play off group dynamics, which call for bonding with those in the group and showing enmity towards those outside the group.
However, people can't keep up that level of emotional involvement for too long, especially if their lives are otherwise fairly comfortable. Therefore, we really only see extremism, in any religion, in areas that are undergoing some kind of stress, either politically, economically, or other. That's when we see people being able to get that religious ferver up to the point where they're willing to blow themselves up.
This is not just an issue with Islam. It is another example of the harm that religion does to society.

Check some of following verses in the holy Quran, and the answer will be self-evident.
Sura 8:67: It is not for any prophet to have captives until he hath made slaughter in the land.
Sura 9:29: Fight (jihad) those who believe not in allah
Sura 8:12 I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.
Sura 33:61: Cursed: wherever they are found they shall be seized and murdered, a horrible murdering.
Death for apostasy (leaving Islam):
Sura 4:89: They long that ye should disbelieve even as they disbelieve, that ye may be upon a level (with them). So choose not friends from them till they forsake their homes in the way of Allah; if they turn back (to enmity) then take them and kill them wherever ye find them, and choose no friend nor helper from among them,

It's the same with Christianity. The Bible says similar things, but most Christians aren't extremist. It's just people using their own common sense I suppose
I didn't say New Testament. I said Bible. But anyway:
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother
Matthew 10:34-35
Moses commanded...'Whosoever curses his father and his mother is to be put to death.' But you teach that if a person has something he could use to help his father or mother, but says, 'This belongs to God', then he is excused from helping his father or mother. In this way, the teaching you pass on to others cancels out the word of God.
Mark 7:9-13
...if someone comes to you who does not bring this teaching [the teaching of God], do not welcome him into your homes; do not even say 'Peace be with you'. For anyone who wishes him peace becomes his partner in the evil things that he does.

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim - In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hello. Wow, I never thought I'd hear someone say that most Musims AREN'T extremists, lol. But it is true. Most of th 1 billion + Muslims on the planet are not extremist. We go about our daily lives and try to improve things for ourselves and family.
It is true that we Muslims have to defend ourselves and others when we are attacked, but the global political situation is very complex. First of all, we have no Khalifah, no single authoratative leader of all the Muslims, so there is no ruler who can unify and guide all of us. Second, many if not most of the "Muslim" governments are not ruling according to Islam. They exist to keep themselves in power and they are not interested in rescuing their brothers and sisters who are oppressed. Individual Muslims might try to sneak across a border to help, but it is like trying to douse a forest fire with an eyedropper.
The Muslims like to say that Israel or the West or another outside bugaboo is at fault for all the oppression that we are suffering in places such as Palestine, Kashmir, Sudan, and other places. We look outward when the enemy is within. The enemy is an apathetic populace who allow decadent leaders to distract us while they are committing every sin. We must clean up our own house before worrying about the neighbors'. Until we Muslims decide to live according to the teachings of Islam, we will continue in this downward spiral.
People like bin Laadin and the Talibaan may have good intentions in their hearts, which is to make countries live according to Islam, but their methods are reprehensible and forbidden by Islam. If you have true faith in Allah, you will not twist the religion to fit your agenda. These people show that they do not have a correct understanding of religion when they do things like suicide bombing or allowing the cultivation of opium poppies. They will not be successful in this world and they will be in for a big surprise in the next. Allah's Messenger Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, will not recognize the changes they made to the beautiful religion he brought.
I am not an apologist for Islam. I am proud of my faith and I believe it is the truth and the best way to live in this world and prepare for the next. I stand with the overwhelming majority of Muslims who shrink in horror from the inhuman tactics that so-called Muslims are using in Iraq, Palestine, Sudan, and other places. I support my oppressed brothers and sisters in those places and pray that Allah will make a way for them, but it will not happen as long as Muslims are not living according to Islam. The situation is very complex, with politics substituting for religion, and everyone suffers.
May Allah guide you to that which is best in this world and the next. Ameen.
Fi Aman Allah,
Nancy Umm Abdel Hamid

There are many Muslims fighting the oppression of the Israelis daily. Fighting those who are directly opressing them!
As for the love in the New Testament:
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. (Luke 19:27)
I feel the love, when will you adhere to the new testament?

Muslims fall into two categories:
Those who support terrorism, and those who are silent.
Thus, nobody really knows what percentage of Muslims are extremists.
If most Muslims would speak out against terrorism, then the world would take notice.
