I wish I would see this in every TV channel I flip into!! Unfortunately, the only channel that is covering is VERSA. I do not have Disk 250 channel package.
Shame on ABC, ESPN and DISCOVERY. The only and only team sports America is making history for last 8 years, they don't cover. Show college football and basketball instead.
If you go outside United States, people may not know the name of a single NBA or NFL player but I bet, can tell you a whole lot about 'Lance Armstrong'……!

Lack of interest in the US. Personally I like watching it but I know I am in the minority. VS owns the rights so ESPN and ABC can't show anymore than hightlights anyway but choose not to bid on it due to low ratings.

Unfortunately for us most people in the US don't find the tour that interesting. Maybe it's the spandex, I don't know, but if people aren't going to watch it there's no advertising revenue in it and the TV channels are interested in one thing...revenue. If you think it's bad now you should have tried to follow the tour before Lance. Back then you couldn't even find results in the papers!

But what I really don't get is how NASCAR is becoming the new national passtime, and yet people find the tour boring....HUH!?!

Thats exactly why the Tour De France isn't shown on anything other than Versus. There aren't many people in this country interested about watching a bike race that happens once a year. The only reason for its popularity as of late is because of Lance Arnstrong's record setting win streak and Landis testing positive for performance enhancing drugs. Now that Lance Armstrong isn't in the Tour anymore, there is no reason to watch it in this country.

I feel very sorry for you
I watch the Tour de France here in RSA, where cycling is the least popular sport, and they stage every stage and all the behind the scene news

same reason why cricket isn't carried in the US

it is not a popular team sport in the US, only popular in Europe
and since it is not a spectator sport in a stadium (except a velodrome), most people in the US couldn't care less

You should talk to some Football (soccer) fans in the US. They share your pain.
