It's ficticious. Just like the Holy Ghost.
Powerful, just not real.

According to the Vedic version, the Lord is naturally fully powerful, and thus His supreme energies are always perfect and identical with Him. Both the spiritual and the material skies and their paraphernalia are emanations of the internal and external energies of the Lord. External energy is comparatively inferior, whereas the internal potency is superior. The superior energy is living force(the living entity, the soul), and therefore she is completely identical, but the external energy, being inert, is partially identical. But both the energies are neither equal to nor greater than the Lord, who is the generator of all energies; such energies are always under His control, exactly as electrical energy, however powerful it may be, is always under the control of the engineer.
In Bhagavad gita Krishna says"Of the Vedas I am the Säma Veda; of the demigods I am Indra, the king of heaven; of the senses I am the mind; and in living beings I am the living force [consciousness]."
PURPORT
The difference between matter and spirit is that matter has no consciousness like the living entity; therefore this consciousness is supreme and eternal. Consciousness cannot be produced by a combination of matter.
Because the mind is the most difficult sense to control, it is considered the greatest sense and therefore is represented by Krishna.
Prabhupada: The Sama-vedas mean the realisation of God by singing, by music.
Also In the Vedänta-sütra (1.2.27) this is also confirmed. Çabdädibhyo 'ntaù pratiñöhänäc ca: the Lord is situated within sound and within the body, within the air and even within the stomach as the digestive force.

The Force is an energy that surronds and connects everything, it is the collective energies of every living being on this and any other planet, the positive emotions are the "light side" the negative emotions are the "dark side" love is part of the "Living Force" and the universal acceptance of living beings is the "Unifying Force" that's my definition of it, so does that make me a Jedi? That'd be cool...anyways, that's *a* definition for it...not *the* definition for it....but I hope it helps

The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.
