A question for theists of any belief:
Where does the "soul" come from? Is it a reincarnated spirit recycled, or does each living person get a brand-new, fresh off the lot one?

after reading many convincing reincarnation stories
I believe that some of us may decide to reincarnate , some may just go on in the spirit realms
it depends what we are needing to enhance our spiritual development
we all go back to the source where new souls are born from eventually

The concept of the immortal human spirit (soul) was invented in 390 AD by St. Augustine of Hippo. He combined Plato's Idealism with Aristotle's Solipsism and asserted that God loans each new human being a tiny bit of His own immortal essence at the beginning of their life. The experience of being alive was said to grow God's gift into a human soul. The soul was believed to return to God in Heaven, when the person died. Augustine's hypothesis imagines each new person gets a new soul of their own.
Augustine's philosophy achieved two important theological goals: it provided an explanation for how human consciousness was possible, and it explained how Christ's promise of eternal life was metaphysically possible. (Christ used paternalistic allegories when discussing eternal life and did not specify how it might be possible.)
Because your question is addressed to theists, I won't bore you with the details of why all of the above is utterly false.

Only God knows the answer to that one! But personally I feel our souls are somewhat "recycled", my eldest son has been told since he was a little tot that he has an "old soul." Good Question!!

Some people are 'old souls' and it shows. As far as where the 'soul' comes from, think about a slice of pie. It's very much like the pie that it was cut from, right?
