She shouldn't have a problem getting a job through AAFES. It's not exactly the greatest of employers, the pay sucks, and sometimes the hours are long and drawn out, but it delivers a paycheck every 2 weeks.

My mum is also British, and when she applied for a position 7 years ago she did run into a few problems because she didn't have American citizenship yet (just a US Green Card and Military Sponsorship). In the end she was hired and had no problems from then on out.

She can also apply for a position with Services through NAF. There is no online automated hiring system (which is crap) so she'd have to be there in person at HRO to apply.

Have her sign up and browse around the employment section of the AAFES website -

http://odin.aafes.com/employment/default.asp

Oh! and also there is DeCA. Have her to go their website for more employment info at -

http://www.commissaries.com

Positions are rare since everything has gone "do it yourself checkouts" but it's worth keeping an eye open for.

Most military bases employ dependants on various jobs. As a military dependant her nationality makes no difference and the military base is treated as being under US law not German. The difficulty in getting a job will be the limited number of positions against the potential number of applicants.
If she wanted a job within the German economy that is a different matter - is she a fluent German speaker?
Her future husband must be able to answer questions like these for her - all the info is available from the US army.
If you (or your 'friend') types US Army Germany into google you will get links to various sites for the different bases the US have in Germany.

Your friend would be better looking for work in a German shop / Job the pay is much better and she would have more employment rights as a E.U. citizen.
When she gets to Germany she should go to the local Rathaus and register then go to the local Arbidsamt (Employment Office) there are sure to be people there who speak English and will help.

You must register and after permission is granted to work she will be issued with a work permit, this has to be carried at all times because if they make a spot check at her German place of employment, you get fined for not having it.

a thank you to do it particularly is learn German first and once you're fluent attempt to discover a job in Germany. you will not detect a job with out speaking German right here this is the national language. And and not utilising a job you will not get a resident enable and a paintings visa. word a eco-friendly card to america is a lot much less complicated to get than a resident enable and paintings visa to any eu u . s . a .. @ smexy the certainty maximum Germans talk English does not mean there are jobs for people who do not talk German over right here this is only nonsense. Will I even have the capacity to discover a job interior the united kingdom or the US with out speaking English?

Spelling = British, Germany!

She can apply to work on base, but, she will be classified like the local nationals!
Now, I'm not quite sure if her status changes if she has a dependent ID card - Different classification.
Tell her to contact the local Civilian Personnel Office (CPO) of a nearby U.S.Base/Post for more Information.

She will be able to apply for jobs on base. Once she has her ID card, she will be able to get a SOFA (Status of Forces Agreement) card that shows she is a "Member of the Forces" and eliminates her from paying certain German taxes.

If she wants to work off base, she will be eligible to do that as well.

She won't have any problems, is spent ten years as a civilian worker in Germany for the American military, and enjoyed every minute, and Germany is a great country to be in.
